I will never go anywhere else now to get my curls looked after!! I used to leave the hairdresser get round the corner and put my hair in a bobble or put my hood up to hide my hair, and then go home and wash it and style myself! It normally looked like a burst cushion! Not exactly what you want after being at the hairdresser! However since going to Belle and Blackley I no longer need to hide my hair and I can show it off with a big smile on my face. I love my curls again thanks to Scott and the girls and the advice I have been given on how to look after my hair is fabulous. I had Charlie wax my eyebrows and to be honest I as nervous before going because I’ve recently moved to Glasgow and didn’t know where to go. I’ve just had my hair cut and styled by Scott - he truly is a master at cutting curls! Normally when I go to a salon, hairdressers can’t wait to straighten out my Afro. Scott enhanced my curls and talked me through everything he was doing and why. The rest of the staff are lovely and very friendly. This is a busy well established salon that I would recommend to anyone, but particularly if you have curls. I took my nearly six year old into the salon today. She is a curly girl who has never had a hair cut because I have heard so many horror stories from other curlies I have been petrified of what might happen when it gets cut! Scott was AMAZING with her. He spoke to her and explained everything to her from what he was doing to how she ( I! ) can get the best out of her curls. He made us both feel so comfortable and his knowledge of curls put my mind at ease instantly, as well a...s knowing he has his own curly haired children. He made her feel so special and pampered which was exactly what I had wanted for her first experience at the hairdresser. This salon does more than what usual great salons do. Firstly, the environment is very relaxed with a warm welcome from staff once you enter and plenty of coffee/tea and magazines. Along with a great atmosphere with the playlist and chit chat around the salon. However, the main thing that I love about this salon, and especially my stylist Julie, is that they will do what YOU want done. I like to have fun with my hair and will choose things that might not sort me. In the past,... this has resulted in stylists trying to alter my idea beyond recognition or do it but with a begrudging attitude, however not here. The other thing I love about this salon, and this goes for people considering getting extensions, is that it is very reasonable and good quality. I started getting extensions in 2 years ago and I would always do it on the cheap (buy my own hair extensions, and get a random person on Gumtree to put them in). However, in the long term, it wasn't cheap, due to having to account for the bad quality of hair, not being installed properly, bad colour match, the bad blending of hair and extensions. Here, Julie makes sure that the colour of the extension and your hair matches perfectly, she blends it in beautifully with your hair (my hair is chin length and she managed to blend in 18" inches hair extensions), and she definitely gets them very tightly into your head! The quality of hair they use doesn't degrade like a lot of other extensions I have had, meaning I can keep them in for a lot longer without buying new ones. Spending month in Glasgow so went online to find a Hairdressers/ Beautician. By pure chance I came across Belle and Blackley and what a find! I phoned and made appointments. I was greeted by Louise who provided both hair and beauty treatments and I was absolutely delighted with the results. Recently, I've visited London and Edinburgh and had my hair done in both places and been disappointed with results. Louise in Belle and Blackley far exceeded my expectations. There's such a friendly, down to earth atmosphere in the Salon and any initial nerves about entering an unfamiliar place are soon forgotten. The Salon Owner definitely sets the tone of the salon and though everyone works really hard they all seem a happy unit. I had eyebrows and lashes dyed plus a wash and blow dry and when I went to pay I was delighted to be offered a very healthy discount when I was, very tactfully, asked if I was retired.... very happy, in this instance, to be a pensioner. I have been to some of the best salons in New York-- and no lie, this salon is just as good, if not better than all of them. Louise is wonderful! I have very difficult hair which is thick, frizzy, going grey rapidly and has become resistant to hair dye. Fantastic salon!! I have been going to Belle & Blackly for years now. I always get a tea, coffee or some bubbly when I arrive. Scott and the rest of the staff always have great chat and make you feel very welcome. Stefania is a genius when it comes to colour and does fantastic hair updos. I had her do my hair for my wedding, which looked stunning. Louise did my wedding makeup, which looked exactly how I wanted!
