The man (can’t remember name) had a feel of my hair, recommended me the appropriate Kerastase shampoo and anti-breakage cream, and thoroughly explained how to fix my straggly hair. I feel so bad I have written a review yet, so here goes. I've been to Stilo three times now for hair coloring and cut, and I'm just amazed at the level of professionalism and skill that these stylists have. Jonathan is amazing in every aspect of the word. I went from dark brown hair to blonde and I love it! He even fixed my previous coloring for me, and I went from goldish blonde to a more silvery/white blonde. Fab Hair Cut Went to the Stiilo salon for the second time today. Consultation with Gabriella was brilliant, she talked me through every stage of the cut and then did exactly what she said she would. She understood exactly what I was aiming for and what my hair needed and advised me throughout. The staff are really friendly and helpful. I have Racoon hair extensions done by Jaz & they are literally incredible! My hair naturally is very fine and not much of it, i struggle trying to grow it or hold any volume in it at all. Now i have these extensions i feel amazing my hair is long thick and very manageable actually more manageable than before. They were quickly applied under 2 hours and the bonds are so comfortable i rarely notice then at all even when tied up. I can do so much more with my hair its quick and easy to look after and the hair is so natural and blends so well most people are shocked when i tell them its not my hair. I am really at a loss as to how to evaluate my experience with this salon. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the facial I had today was a great one (thanks to the wonderful Polish lady who did it - unfortunately, I did not catch her name). I'd easily give a 5-star review based on those factors. However, my hairocolouring experience with Gabriela was dreadful. After getting a nice haircut from her, I assumed the same could be expected with regards to colour. Boy was I wrong. I came in for half head highlights, wanting to have the shape of my new haircut emphasized by a couple of sun-kissed touches of beige blonde (asked specifically not to go too light please). I left with the whole top of my head solid bleached and dyed into a very pinkish shade of peach - in other words, looking like an ice-cream cone. The stylist asked no questions when doing my hair, so I assumed she remembered my preferences we discussed when I was having my haircut done a week earlier. However, after she was done and I told her this was not at all what I expected, she said it was partly my fault for not explaining more, and that she overdid things so that I would not say I could see no difference (!). Well, I certainly can't say that now, can I. Not happy at all with all of this, and will never ask the same person to do my colour again. Again, all the rest of my experiences with the salon certainly deserve a 5-star ranking, but combined with the colouring mess I can only give 3 stars I'm afraid. Read Less

Absolutely LOVELY salon! I get my hair blown out regularly back home in Los Angeles - about once a week. I have tried a lot of salons in my time - if I lived in Cambridge this would be my go to! I emailed them via their websites about needing an appointment for the next day for May Ball. I went in person in the morning around Noon and they squeezed me in for a 4:30PM appointment day of. I have very thick hair and Candance gave me one of the best blow outs I have gotten in quite some time. I came with my hair wet to save time (although they were happy to wash my hair there). The reception person was friendly and they had a cute dog. Otherwise, the hair stylist girl was full of attitude that did not match her skills. I suggested her exact haircut that I always get for my super long locks and showed her some celebrity pics to get inspired. She rejected them all on the basis of being hair extensions. Well my hair isn't and so far my previous stylists did pretty good job by giving it articulate layers. Instead she insisted that she knew what "proper" hair cut was and I ended up with ugly flatly reproduced frizzy wobble. I often think that one of the best skills that a hair stylist can acquire is to be able to listen to the client's suggestions. This is one of the reasons people especially women like yo chat while getting hair service because they feel nervous about your abilities to transform or ruin their look. Ladies might know better their hair since they had it since they were born?... Wouldn't recommend haircuts at this place. Read Less

I was nervous to begin with but Jess put my mind to ease. I am aware having black hair means the colour might not show very well and I have concerns about bleaching my hair, but Jess explained the process to me patiently. Loved trying out the latest celebrity carbon facial this week at Stilo! It's the new non invasive pain free laser treatment to hit the streets of Cambridge. Not having a laser facial before I was a bit unsure how it would feel but Ashleigh reassured me and it really was pain free, I had a wonderful experience! It's a 60 minute facial starting with a deep cleanse, the end result made my skin feel radiant, tightened my pours and overall improved my skin texture. I had been to Stilo several times for my two daughter's hair cut & blow dry's but never for mine. We moved to Cambridge 6 years ago and I still insisted on driving a 120 mile round trip every 8 weeks or so to Essex as I had had my hairdresser for over 20 yrs! But went with my daughter to Jonathan on Saturday who did a fabulous cut on hers I decided to book him for yesterday for my 3 colour highlights and finally change my Essex habit! He listened exactly to what I wanted and ...talked me through colours etc, to say I am thrilled is an understatement, I absolutely love the colour and it has been done so well, I am a very happy bunny - its a lovely salon, very relaxed and all the staff are wonderful. I am already re booked for December. Its taken me a while to change to a local salon in Cambridge but boy did I pick the right one! A stylist ahead of it's time...open Sundays??I was looking for a place that was open on Sundays and this is one of the only places if not the only place.  There are many other places that I have tried throughout the year.  For a guy, this place is the best value for money.A hair cut for you is going to set you back £20, but it is really good.  I find they know what are the up to date styles so you don't look like someone just cut you like every other guy that has come in that day.Ryan was my stylist and he was really good.So for me1) Great style2) Good price3) Open on Sundays. I'd been a student at Cambridge for four years and never noticed the salon, but when I came back to Cambridge for a reunion they'd refurbished the place and it jumped onto my radar.I called on Friday lunchtime and they were able to fit me in that afternoon. I can't remember the name of the hair stylist, but she was curvy and confident (I think she was a senior stylist). She gave me a fantastic haircut, provided easy and witty conversation (not a simple "are you doing anything nice this weekend, then?"), and was reasonably priced. The girl who washed my hair had a little trouble with the temperature of the water and the head massage was tentative; it would've been better if she'd just stuck to shampoo, condition, dry. Overall the decor is quite minimalist and a little too industrial for my liking, but I suppose as a hair salon it wants a professional appearance that is easy to clean. There wasn't music on, which seemed a bit weird, but it allowed me to eavesdrop other clients' conversations (a vice I'm happy to maintain) and I liked how relaxed the other stylists were with each other.Friendly atmosphere, good value for money, solid location.
