It smelled so bad i could almost not breat, im used to gelnails and they were not what i asked for, and they utsedd nail polish on The acrylic, they didn't ewen put gel on top to make more smooth. friendly staff but the quality of the shellac is not worth $45. Nails not filed properly, bubbles and generally not smooth nails. Very disappointed and won't be going back. They seem to do a good job for certain customers only. Read Less

Gel polish is thin and started chipping in less than a week. I asked at the time if they were going to do a layer of gel along the tip of the nails, they insisted they had but they 100% did not, which is why it is chipping so quickly. Two stars because they re-did a nail when I saw there was a big bubble in the middle of one, and also checked if I liked the shape of the nail. Not worth the money as a gel manicure. Read Less

After being assured that I would be getting gel nails and not acryllic (I made it very clear I did not want acryllic) I was still given acryllic powder nails. Terrible, you can not sell a product as one thing and give another. They not only did this to me but another lady there at the same time was sold the same lie. Read Less

Ever since I got a shellac manicure in the States I have been seriously addicted. I know it's not good for your nails but not having worry about chipped nails for at least two weeks is so dreamy!American Nails is preeetty close to where I live so naturally it is one of my go-to spots. The girls here are lovely and very speedy - albeit a bit rough. They have a gazillon numbers to choose from and have a large T.V. screens playing Fashion TV which makes the time fly by. I forget how much a shellac manicure is but I learnt the other day that you can asked to just get your nails painted for less (no cuticle cutting, hand massage), which I am definitely going to opt for next time. Fantastic little nail salon located on the summery streets of Takapuna. I received a voucher for my birthday and I accidently left it a bit too late, the voucher expired at the end of February and I called American Nails a couple days after it expired and they kindly let me still use it. My voucher was for a shellac manicure + colour. I chose a light pink. The girl doing my nails was very professional it was clear she had been doing this a long time, it was all very effortless. My nails were done in about half an hour and they looked great and I got many compliments over the next few weeks. The shellac is a new thing where the colour is semi-permanent and does not come off for about 3 weeks. As good as nail salons get! Read Less
