WARNING I asked if they could please redo my nails because they were very far from the cuticle, and looked as if they’d already grown out. This really upset the owner, and she told me they would not able to do it today. So I asked about the next day, or even a removal and refund. Once she realized I was serious, she told me to come back later in the evening... when I returned I was with my brother, who noticed that all of the ladies were staring & talking about me. Each one made a point of coming over to look at the nails, and made sure to tell me how Good they looked. (even my 16 year old brother said they shouldn’t have let me leave looking so bad) the ladies began to talk back and forth to one another in another language, clearly about me. Neither times did the woman doing my nails bother to speak or acknowledge I had been speaking to her (although she could answer the other employees) About 1 week after I had the nails done they devoloped a brown tint to them (the nails are green so it was easy to spot) A bacteria had begun to grow because they had done an extremely poor job repainting them over top of the job they had previously done. Don't go here, they are unethical...they charge $1 extra per customer with a story about the government imposing regulations that every customer has to have a new naile file and buff, who knows if they use a new one everytime?? It didn't seem new to me today, she pulled one out of her box and filed away. If this were true, every other nail salon would have to charge the same $1 per customer on top of their outrageous prices. The price painted with giant letter on the window says "mani and pedi $35", chose to use shellac polish, and it was $61 at the end...the most they should charge is $55, adding $10 for nails and feet each, which is still quite a reach. They seem to charge u as they profile u, carrying a $3000 designer handbag? Well then you will pay the tax of carrying that handbag...unethical. We used to come here every few months to get our nails done, but due to some unfortunate experiences we will likely not return anytime soon. Once my sister and I got our eyebrows waxed here and the wax wasn’t hot enough to even properly remove our hair, and the esthetician (if they even are licensed estheticians) told my sister her upper lip needed to be waxed... my sister was 15 and had NO hair on her upper lip, and left very offended. They also yell at each other across the room and are obviously talking about the clients. I once asked for a yellow nail polish design on my toe and the girl laughed and did it in white without asking me. If I’m paying, do what I’ve requested. My mom also was cut by a pair of nail clippers (which resulted in an infection) and was never apologized to. Not very clean, not a relaxing experience, and disappointing experience with staff. I go here often, it’s not fancy but efficient and they do a good job. Lots of colour choice. I don’t go for an expensive spa experience but to get my nails done nicely at a reasonable price. They are great. Read Less

These ladies are very friendly. Some of their staff take the time to have a have conversation with you instead of just talking to one another. It is like going to your  hairdresser ... Sometimes you just want a conversation. The place feels clean when you walk in. It is not hard to get an appointment and when you show up you don't feel rushed. Prices are reasonable and there is plenty of parking available.  They don't have the best selection of colours and are not swanky in appeal. I thought I would get a professional manicure the day before my engagement shoot. Since this place was right across the street from me, it was super convenient. I opted for a regular polish manicure since I generally paint my own nails. It'd be easier for me to remove the polish and repaint my nails at a later time. The manicure itself was very choppy. It wasn't smooth around my nail beds. The whole time I was watching the nail technician paint my nails, I wanted to offer her some pointers on how to get some straight and solid lines. I also got my eyebrows waxed and my original technician wasn't the one that did it. Another woman did my eyebrows while my original technician watched. I'm assuming she was new or something and needed some training on how to wax. I wasn't given any warning. They were just talking in a different language while doing my eyebrows, which made me feel kind of uncomfortable. It would have been nice to have been told they would use me to do some training. If my original nail technician was new, that would explain the mediocrity of my manicure. Fast forward to 12 hours after my manicure, I already had chipped nails. I had chipped nails going into my engagement shoot. Fast forward three days later, all my nails are chipped. The quality of their nail polish or top coat must not be very good because when I paint my own nails with Sally Hansen and then a Seche Vite top coat, my manicures last much, much longer. Read Less

They completely rush you when you get a pedi/mani combo and the end result is borderline decent.  I only tolerated this place because it's conveniently located near my house.  However, today's experience showed me differently.  Went in this afternoon, the young receptionist was very kind and helpful.  However, some of the nail ladies were absolutely terrible.  They were talking trash about customers in front of them (in Chinese).  I know this- because I can understand mandarin as well. When I informed the receptionist that I could understand everything they were saying and how unprofessional this all was, she apologized on their behalf.  The other ladies just played dumb and watched.  Honestly, I don't care for an apology. I'm just saying the entire thing was not a pleasant experience.  This is no loss on my end.  I will not come back here again and i rarely, if ever, write yelp reviews. Read Less

This was my second visit to Kathy Nail & Spa in Markham. My first was last summer, along with my Mom and Grandmother, to get our nails done for my sister's wedding. We each got a pedicure and nails done. The staff were friendly and efficient, and the massage chairs for the pedicures are always a nice touch. I had gel nails done on my fingers, and the same thing today. I was able to get today's appointment in short notice, an extra bonus since my nails really needed it! Joy, my technician, was nice and also through. I again got a full gel nail set, with a gorgeous rose gold colour. It took about 90 mins, and had a hand/arm massage as well. They have a couple of TVs you can watch while getting things done. My total came to $55, and I am pleased with my nails (they look pretty sweet :). All in all, I'd be back next time I'm in Markham and need a little nail care :) Read Less

I have coming to this salon for several months now to get my gel nails done! They do an amazing job. Jennifer at the salon does my nails and she never makes me wait when I have an appointment and she always takes the time to give me what I am looking for in terms of design or amazing suggestions for something new and different. Worst place ever !!!!! Do not go here and get your nails. The customer in there eyes isn't right . I asked for more than one coat of shellac so the colour will be darker and they said no and another associate said the same thing. They do not know how to do nails. My nail wasn't sticking to the gel and instead of taking it off and doing it again she decides to use glue ! Worst place ever !!!! I had Jenny and I suggest you don't get her if you go!!!! Read Less

I've been looking for a decent place to do my nails and I recently went here as I came across it when I was searching. It's pretty decent with a friendly atmosphere and the place is clean.To start, the service was pretty good in that they were still pretty on it even though they were helping a few other customers. I believe they are mostly Mandarin-speaking but we were able to converse with them fine in English and they were pretty friendly too. The girls helping us took their time to do our nails thoroughly and to the way we wanted them. Nothing was missed and they were very detailed trying to be perfect withe everything. I say detailed because i decided to get some nail stickers and they were being careful and exact, measuring certain stickers to check the length and making sure it was consistent with the rest of the nails. Placing it on my nail was another story too! I actually had 3 girls trying to help put the stickers on because they kept ripping since it was really small and thin.Overall I think this place was decent. Ot was clean and had some nice options. I don't do my nails often so I can't compare to the more popular places but I can say I was satisfied. I didn't like Kathy's Nails and Spa. I was given a mis-quote on the phone for french shellac. Once I had the nails done I was charged $5 more than I was quoted! My friend who came with me wasn't given an option of at least nude color for finger nails, they only offered her clear top coat. She is new to the whole nail decorating aspect of fashion. We were both very unimpressed! I will never go here again. Only reason I tried out was because they were open Friday night until 7pm. Read Less
