Had a horrible experience. Never going back. had a shellac. The oriental lady who works there is very nice but she is not doing a good job. My nails are uneven and bumpy. Made a horrible thick gel on two of my my broken nails. The gel looks way too thick and with shellac on top, they look really fake and ugly. she did not soak my fingers before manicure. Had me wash my hands in a sink after she filed my nails mostly with electrical file. Cost 45$ with tax. Read Less

I see Liza on a regular basis for fills and shellac. Liza is now someone I consider a good friend. She does a great job and it's always nice to catch up with her. I've also had Jenny do my nails and the same thing... polite, kind, and does a great job. Been going to Ruby Nails for years and anytime I had a problem I go back and they will fix it. Made an apt - showed up exactly on time, waited 15 min outside in the cold for someone to show up with a key. The girl "Koa" who did my pedicure was not very experienced. She did not leave my feet in the hot water long enough before she started to cut my cuticles. Three times I told her she was hurting me, she paid no attention and simply continued on. After cutting the cuticles, she used a small pumice square to smooth my toenails, after I expressly told her I wanted her to... use a portable nail drill to do this as I had sensitive skin and nails. She also suggested I wear the little foam flip flops home- in a snowstorm - When I got home, I looked closely at my toes, and found many little cuts that had bled from poor trimming of the cuticles, and the next day, I had red raised skin where the pumice square she used had abraised the skin around the cuticle. Went here today for a shellac manicure. For a $30 manicure I would expect it to be neat and clean but when I left I noticed that she didn't remove the polish that was left on my skin. After having to pick it off, the skin around my nails is kind of ruined. Appreciate the care on my cuticles but the paint wasn't the best job. Read Less

I used to go to Ruby Nails to get my nails done. I was new to acrylic nails and didn't know what to get. For the first few times, I found that the nails were pretty bulbous and didn't stay on for very long. THey would slightly peel above the cuticle and would catch my hair when I would run my fingers through my hair. The last time I went, it took 3 hours to do my nails, very bulbous and when I finally left, I realized the lengths of the nails on each hand were different. I was incredibly disappointed, and even though the owner offered to fix it up, I decided to not go back. That botched work cost me $70!!!! I finally decided to go to another salon and am much happier with my results! No sign of peeling and the nails look much more natural and took less than an hour to do! Read Less

I went in for a acrylic removal and new colour. I was the only customer at that time 2:30pm-4:00pm on a Tuesday. They lady that did my nails was very nice. She didn't speak English fluently but she tried her best to attend to my needs. She even asked a younger employee what I was asking to make sure she understood. She would apologize when she accidentally filed my finger. Accidents happen, I didn't mind but I appreciated the apologies. She was fast at removing my old long ballerina acrylics and did her best to shape my nails (I wanted them straight). The result wasn't as good as I had hoped. Overall the shaping I'd rate a 4/5 (my right index finger was slanted and some fingers didn't match the left hand) but the colour job on my right hand was very rushed. I'd rate the left hand colour 4/5 and right hand 3/5. My right pinky was blotchy and there was gel polish over my cuticles on some fingers. I'm not very picky, I normally get my nails done at my salon in Toronto anyways (Ananeke Beauty Salon and Spa at 2357 Yonge Street. They're the absolute best. I highly recommend them if you're in the Yonge-Eglinton area). Unfortunately, I will not be going back. Even in an emergency, I will find another salon. Read Less

The nail tech didn't compare my nails across hands, so each and every one ended up a different length. I was left with nail glue all over my hands. The new nail was way too wide and poorly shaped (along with the rest of my nails). The acrylic was uneven, lumpy, and thick. She didn't wrap the tip of my nail ...with polish. She started filing my nails *after* she had finished off the gel and top coat, stripping away some of the color, leaving them looking messy. My fill ended up being double the price of that offered by my regular spot (I think they charged me a ton for my ring fingers which were accents, though all they did was ombre in a second color and placed an opalescent powder on top; no fancy, time consuming, or expensive nail art). I've been coming here for years and see a lot of monster clients they have to deal with on the daily, recently saw a young girl try to run out without paying and I've seen a lot of people who walk in and can't get appointments and blow up. My sister recommended this place so I decided to book an appointment. The first time I got my nails done, the ladies there were talking in their own language which seemed like they were talking behind the customers’ back. The person who did my nails did not understand what I wanted, so nails did not come out as nicely as I expected. I was quite disappointed and since my sister recommended, I decided to try one more time with a different person. This time, none of the colours were available since the nail polishes were on display for quite a while and seemed very dry. I went for a colour that I did not like. The person who did my nails (shellac) seemed new and did not paint my nails properly. It hurt a lot when she was working on my cuticles. I complained about the pain, but the girl didn’t seem to care. This place is an absolute joke! I asked for a price range for the acrylics and the owner assumed I was asking because I couldn't afford their prices and told me that it wouldn't be "worth it" to get them done there. She implied that I was too poor to afford acrylics. I was actually trying to calculate a tip but it's her loss . She judged me on my appearance and uncertainty and it cost her big time! The facility itself was dark and musty, and  lm pretty sure I saw a child doing nails and a young teenager at the counter (illegal?)Honestly I don't know why this place gets good reviews, given how unprofessional and sketchy they are. Not a good experience! The place is quite dirty, the woman who did my nails didn't speak any English, which made things difficult. Nails were done poorly, it was strictly a polish application without any other components of a manicure, so that was a disappointment. I will stick with my regular place! Read Less

First time going here and I loved it. I made an appointment here because they were the only salon I've found in the area that has the chrome and holographic options. I ended up getting a full set of acrylic with a rose gold chrome shellac on top. The aesthetician did such an amazing job and really took the time on my nails. I've had the same set on for over a month and have been pretty rough with them and they're still going strong! This place is great and has so many options for getting creative with your nails. Decided to try out Ruby Nails instead of going to my usual place. Safe to say that I will not be returning. The staff were hardly welcoming and service was rushed (maybe because they overbooked clients?). Where it normally takes about an hour at my usual place for a shellac mani, it only took 15-20 mins for it here. They didn't ask me what shape I wanted my nails, and didn't do a proper manicure. On top of that, my nails look like little beans and one nail isn't painted straight (it's diagonal along the cuticle line). The only reason I'm giving it a 2 and not 1 star is because I am satisfied with the colour, thickness, and smoothness of the coat. Read Less

They are REALLY busy- plan well in advance!I wanted to come for the May special this year, which was a Shellac mani. The service itself was great. Lots of colours to choose from, and the Shellac was very good- my nails stayed on without chips for actual weeks, when I couldn't get away with them anymore. Removal is $6 which is also very reasonable.+ Monthly specials+ Good quality+ Great prices+ I got a nail design and it was just what I wanted, and it stayed. -They are busy which is great but I waited 1.5 hours after my appointment time to actually get services. I went with my friend and I'm glad we didn't have anything else planned that evening!-I have only been once, but my friend went again and said she waited 30 minutes after her appointment time.I will certainly go again, it's a great place with great prices, but I will either book early or show up a bit late... I decided one Friday after being sick of with looking at my boyfriends' troll feet, that it was time for a pedi. I also opted for one because hey, it's sandal weather. So I rang them up around noon, and got appointments for 1pm. They were not at all busy when we got there, only 2 other clients, and seated us right away.Now, we've gone for pedicures together before and usually, when they realize they'll be working with my boyfriend's feet, they get all giggly and awkward and generally rush through his pedicure. This was NOT the case here, and they were so gracious to him, and she put in the time and effort to make his feet look just as nice as mine. I can't tell you how much I appreciated this.My pedicurist was just as lovely. She was overall gentle, and applied just enough pressure when scraping and exfoliating to get the job done without being painful. Also, my polish looked FAB and my feet are finally summer ready!
