I love getting my hair done here whether it’s a special occasion or just because! Overall the service was mediocre. I came for a blowout for a wedding. The hairdresser burned my ear with the curling iron. When she was done my hair was a bit frizzy at the ends so I had to ask her to fix it. The hair style didn't last very long as she didn't use enough product to ensure a long hold. I had recently gotten my makeup done with Blo for my wedding. I did my hair and makeup trial with them but decided to just do my makeup with blo. Jen was great to deal with, i think i met her briefly once, but most of our communication was via email and she responds quickly. She was accommodating, i had to change my # of people getting their makeup done a couple weeks before the wedding and it wasn't a problem. The makeup artist came to my house to apply the makeup. Sabrina-t...he makeup artist- was phenomenal. As a person that doesn't wear makeup she was able to do my face without it being so overwhelming and yet still look bridal. She did my, my mother's and my younger sister's makeup. We all loved her and she was so considerate and made sure that we were all happy with the makeup and added more blush or a different shade of lipstick or whatever else we requested of her. She even put on a lipstick that literally stayed on all night and did not lose it's colour. I cannot say anything bad about Sabrina. The stylists are very friendly and good at what they do. However, the the actual unit needs a MAJOR makeover. If the stylists weren't so great, I don't think this place would make it. I booked blo for my wedding day after having a great experience getting my hair and makeup done for my bridal shower. On this day, they told me it would be the same two girls doing my hair and makeup as I had before so I was happy with that. For my wedding, it was simple, I didn't fuss over the dress, flowers, everything was simple and lovely. Blo told me they would have two girls on make up if we booked as a group in advance (and made me book in advance for this) so we did. ...When we got there, they had one girl on makeup and had the 3 hairstylists there take other clients in between us. I was supposed to go second-to-last but they put me last for hair AND makeup (which they spent 20 mins. on me because they were running behind) instead of booking us all together and even though they said they would block our time together, which is why they required a credit card upfront, which we provided. I showed the girl doing my hair many photos, of an extremely simple and common updo and she said no problem. She went to work and started pulling my hair back, it looked nothing like the photo, more like a bird's nest. When I asked why, she told me because I did not have extensions. Perhaps she should have mentioned this when I originally showed her the photos. Every single photo I showed had flowy hair and she insisted on combing it straight down to my head so I looked like a drowned rat. How is this your most senior stylist with a bridal group? We started again, I asked her to blow out my hair first because I knew that was the look I wanted and I now had to coach the 'senior' stylist. The blowout looked great, and I told her so, and then to proceeded to style my hair to the sides of my face, looking extremely unnatural and more like what one of my girlfriends would have done for me in the sixth grade with a comb and too much product. We ran out of time since she took not only my own bridal party first, but other clients in front of me so I had no choice but to stay with this look. Needless to say, I felt more like a burden than the pampering I was hoping to feel since she complained the entire time that it was about not having a bridal trial, when really it was that they had taken other clients and run out of time and she didn't know how to do an updo. At the end of what was supposed to be the best day ever (everything else was even though I didn't do anything else over-the-top either) I felt extremely uncomfortable in front of all my fiends and family and will not be using the photos I paid so much to the photographer for. Extremely disappointed.... I went to this location to get a blowout for a wedding that I was attending.I made an appointment for 10am. When I got there I wasn't taken in until almost 11:15am- very disorganized with their appointments. I told the stylist what I wanted and she began. Throughout, she kept referring to my hair as "very dry" which I have never had a hair stylist complain about my hair in the past...The process took about 45 minutes. When she was done my hair looked awful!! It was extremely fuzzy and flat. It looked as though she took a paddle brush and just brushed my hair repetitively, when I asked for lots of volume. When I got home, I had to redo my hair myself - as it would have been an embarrassment to attend a formal event looking the way I did. I have pretty much put my hair in the hands of all the girls there and have not been disappointed once. The atmosphere is warm, friendly and extremely accommodating. Really disappointed - was not right from the beginning! It was relatively easy job to do - curls and lift the back a bit - instead of 5-8pins - I had 30+ pins and still did not get the job done :( was uneven and looked brutal from the back :( I'm a loyal Blo customer and been with them for 8+ years but today was so important for me to look my 100% best and here I am :( writing this review and fixing my hair to the best of my ability :( Read Less

I had my hair done for the first time at Blo Blow Dry Bar in Oakville yesterday for a friend's wedding. I believe the name of my hair stylist was Justine. They were running a little late (my appt was at 10:30am but I didn't get in until 10:50am) however Justine apologized for the wait and quickly and efficiently got me started. I've been to this location twice now, the first time with Ally and the second time with Kate. My first experience was a good one so I decided to go back just to get a blow out for no particular occasion. Kate seems completely miserable working there, did not speak and was not open to hearing how I wanted my hair styled. In fact, I told her something very specific about the layers around my face, and she just did her own thing.  The place was a ghost town and both she and the owner (Jenn ?) who were there did not make me feel very welcome. I couldn't wait to get out of there and feel completely "meh" about how my hair was styled. I'm not sure if I'll ever go back given the multitude of other salons out there in downtown Oakville. Poor experience for the price. The best part of the salon is its website.I had a wedding to go to, so me and my sister went to get blow outs, we both asked for the red carpet and it was the most limp blow out I have ever received, I could have done a better job on myself.To start the girl doing my hair seemed very nervous and unsure, she was constantly asking me if whatever she was doing was ok, normal things like brushing, hair spray, heat tools etc, which i found odd, the girl didn't speak to me, which I didn't mind because it was early in the morning but still off putting. ( Also, I am just speculating but from what I was hearing some of the staff aren't trained hair dressers because the girl mentioned going to school for business and didn't mention hair school at all)The most off-putting part of the service and why I wouldn't go back is, the girl didn't seem to have her own brushes and grabbed another girls bin and they clearly weren't clean because she pulled another customers hair out of it and proceeded to do my hair, so unhygienic. When she finished with me she pulled my hair out of the brush and put it back which I assume wasn't cleaned again)This could all be forgotten if the hair turned out well, my hair was so limp, no curl at all on the bottom, no volume, nothing special at all. I wasn't asking for much but a little bounce would have been great, let alone my sisters hair which is naturally curly was missing spots, so there were random pieces of hair that were curly and others that were blown out.If this weren't a strictly styling salon I wouldn't have been so disappointed but when you pay $35 to get your hair blown dry you expect it to be done well. Oh nooooooo!I came to Blo on a Friday afternoon, with plans to get a blow out for a Holiday Party that evening. I'm new to Oakville, and didn't want to risk a salon I didn't know, and since Blo is a franchise and the price was right, I figured it was worth a try. Do I ever wish I had just tried another salon! My experience was bad from start to finish. When I arrived, there was some confusion about who I was there to see, but it was sorted pretty quickly. I ended up with a stylist who seemed a little nervous, but thinking she could be new I decided to let it go.I'm pretty easy going when it comes to how my hair is done, and I basically just said I wanted it up. I was anticipating a wash a blow dry, but she said it would be easier to style my hair dry. Fine. Then styling it curly was easier (I have pretty curly hair) which was also fine. Then she ATTACKED ME with a HAIR BRUSH and hairspray, and brushed out all my curls, and was surprised when my hair was no longer curly. WHAT??? Throughout the entire styling, my hair was yanked (it hurt!) and brutally brushed (my poor hair!) and almost every pin that went in I had to reassure her that my hair looked fine. The other stylists in the room throughout my experience were quite unprofessional - joking about having a drink (one seemed serious and had a bottle out, the other shut him down) even while they had clients in their chairs. In the end, my hair did look fine (though it looked like I did it myself) but I'm still dealing with the repercussions of the brutal brushing. My poor curls. I  have been going to BLO Blow dry bar for at least 3 years now....the service has always been friendly and professional.  I am offered water, coffee, tea and magazines to read while I get my hair blown dry.  I have been "blown dry" by several different hairdressers over the years and have been very satisfied. I have also used this franchise out in Vancouver and liked the concept before it arrived in Oakville.  So I was very pleased when BLO came to Oakville!  Don't hesitate to drop by for a "walk in"...but better to call ahead and make an appointment, especially in busy times of the year.  As the logo says...they will "blo you away"!  Enjoy!
