I have been coming here for a year now after searching everywhere for a hairdresser who knows how to properly cut my hair. Yes cutting hair does take talent that many don't have. Thankfully I found Monika. She has changed me back into a blonde from a total dark red disaster of a mess I walked in with. Plus she knows how to cut and style thick hair. I always leave feeling happy and satisfied with whatever I ask for. The staff also are very customer based. Staff is always asking clients if they would like water, tea or coffee. I get my hair done by Denise and she’s very talented at what she does! She’s done blonde balayage and a colour correction to my hair and both were how I envisioned wanting it to look. First time going to a fancier hair place and everyone here was fantastic! Staff were all super friendly and welcoming, Denise was absolutely wonderful I'm hoping to become a regular! Had a great visit and super happy with my hair (gotten a lot of nice words and compliments on it)! Have recommended the place to those I know and plan to go back again! Well worth the price in my opinion, great experience. Also the ladies at the front desk deserve a special mention for being super friendly and providing me with a pamphlet since I had a hard time reading the sign without my glasses, I never got her name but she met me outside the salon with the little pamphlet (where I was covertly try - and failing - to read the sign of services and prices) which for sure sealed the deal on me giving the place a shot, super glad I did. Got a balayage done and it turned out brassy with grey streaks in the front. I was asking the price for everything before it was done because I am a full time student and I cant afford spending $200.00 on my hair. So the balayage was $135.00 and it was recommended that I got a hair treatment because the lightening was damaging to my hair, so i asked for the cheapest treatment which was $20.00. I went to the cash when I was done, and my total was $214.00. When I asked why it was so much, I was told that I paid $135.00 for the balayage, $20.00 for the hair treatment and $35.00 for the blow dry (which was a "deal" according to them because I didn't get my hair flat ironed). I told her that I wasn't told by the stylist that the blow dry would be extra, and she told me that I "should have asked". She also said that I was booked as a "wash, blow dry, and flat iron" which wasn't what I asked for, and I told her that I only asked for a balayage when I called over the phone, she said that I wouldn't have been booked as a wash, blow dry and flat iron if that wasn't what I asked for (even though I heard my stylist telling another staff to book one of her clients who just called over the phone, as a "colour treatment " to colour her roots even though the client only asked for a toning treatment on the ends of her hair. The staff were very rough with my hair and weren't very friendly, would not recommend coming here. Read Less

I tried this place a couple of times and the staff are so friendly and professional.  I personally find it pricey for a mall salon so only have used it when I'm desperate (as hours are very flexible and with our can a,ways get in) or when I can't get into my regular salon. Read Less

I have always had positive experiences with Tonyc Salon at Upper Canada Mall-primarily because of their amazing stylist Soula. She is very qualified and you can tell she has received a lot of training, as she really understands hair. My hair is very thin and she always knows what to do with it to make it look fuller and healthier. Soula always listens to what you want and does exactly what you ask for. So happy with my end result. Soula did an amazing job lightening my virgin black hair to an ashy blonde just in 2 visits within a 2 month span and with very minimal to almost no damage on my hair (breakage is very normal by the way if your hair got bleached as much as mine did). I've been going to Tonyc for over a year and seeing the "top" hairdresser and trusted her for my colour. I just got my hair touched up and wanted it more lighter and starting from the root. I was left looking like I grabbed bleach and did my own hair. It was choppy and fried and looked like I left my roots for years. While I was getting my hair done I felt the staff was staring and wondering what kind of job my hairdresser was doing. I didn't even go back after spending $150 to complain or get it "fixed" by them. I was very unhappy with my experience at this salon and with this company. I asked for a small amount of thinning at the back of my hair which the stylist did, and a small amount of thinning just over the top of my ears.I did not have the top or sides touched, did not have it washed, blown dry or styled. The stylist took no more then 15 minutes from start to finish. My problem was the bill. I was charged $50.00 for this very minimal amount of time spent on my hair. I questioned the cost and was told there would be no adjustment on the outrageous price. I'm more then willing to pay full price for a hair cut if that is what I have. I didn't even have half a hair cut. I had the lower back thinned and a very minimum above the ears. Full price by the way is $65.00 which would include wash, cut, blow dry, and style. None of which I had done and was charged an outrageous $50.00. I contacted head office for Tonyc Salon's both by email and phone and have left several messages that I would like to discuss this matter. This was 3 days ago. Guess what. No one has replied from head office either by mail or by phone. A very irresponsible and inconsiderate way to treat a overpaying client. Shame on all of you. Would never go there again.Read Less

I have been crying ever since I got my hair cut here with Shiva.  This is the worst hair cut I have ever had in my life.  I told her I only wanted a trim, she went ahead and basically cut 5 inches off my hair.  Then she proceeded to cut my bangs which are now almost non exsitent. Someone told me I looked like Rod Stewart.  Shiva is terrible.  Do not get your hair cut by her.  I can't believe I paid $50 to look like this! I am so upset. Read Less
