I swear by maxxy nails, until the gentleman also made mine so thin they've cracked, usually my nails last 2 months after getting them done there... they unfortunately didnt even last a week, I paid good money for a service I am no longer pleased with. I liked this nail salon so much I would go out of my way and drive from Richmond Hill to Newmarket, but not anymore as my recent visits have been short of satisfactory. There are two gentlemen who work there and usually I request Ban. He is away visiting family so the other gentleman, not sure his name, is the one who took over. Multiple occasions he has made my friends nails bleed, myself included, and when receiving uv gel nails files and buffs my nails down so much it hurts/gets hot. On top of him being on his phone (literally would say hold on, read his phone, and put it back on his pocket), rushing, and overall being uninterested, I am finally left with thin nails. I have been going to this salon for months and have never had a problem. I got my nails done on Thursday (October 5th) and it is Sunday (October 8th). I mildly hit my nail as I have in the past numerously, and despite it not even hurting because the blow was so mediocre, my nail cracked in half and blood began pouring between the gel nail. This has NEVER happened with any salon I have gone to all over the GTA, and I’m very upset. The quality of these nails are terrible. And if my finger bleeding wasn’t enough, I glance down and see another chipped as well. Not the polish, the GEL. How does the actual UV gel nail quality be so terrible it CRACKS in 3 days? I've had mani's, pedi's and waxing done at Maxxy Nail Salon. Yes, it has a rather run-down interior, but the prices aren't bad and I usually have an enjoyable experience. Don't come here expecting 5 star service - that's what high end spas are for, ladies. This is a typical regular nail salon and for what it is - I'd say it's not bad and is pretty on point with industry standard. (Ps; Bring cash and you don't have to pay tax.) Read Less

Absolutely horrible experience ! I usually love to go to Maxxi because I've had great experience in the past..but times have changed. I went to get a uv gel set manicure, and asked the lady doing my nails, what would look better for my nail shape, she didn't have an answer and basically said she would do whichever I picked. So I then picked a style (had a picture on my phone of exactly what I wanted) Well as she started the first hand, she cut and shaped the tips of my entire hand and then asked me what I thought. I told her I had wanted them longer and not as thin as the tip of my finger was wide and so the base should be wide otherwise it really looked tacky, and if she could put on longer tips that would be great. She then told me not to worry she would just fix the length and width when she applied the gel...ok. On to the second hand looked better because I had told her to the specifics of what wanted. After applying the gel and filing, the first hand was still much too thin, and she did absolutely nothing to fix it, even after both me and my friend suggested just putting on new tips and starting new because whatever was happening wasn't working. She still refused and kept saying "oh now it's better !" She then cut me twice whilst filing down the gel, didn't apologized and nonchalantly said "I'll put something on, don't worry" At the end of it all, my two hands are not symmetrical - nails different shapes and thicknesses. It took almost 45 minutes longer to do, while the lady was "fixing" her mistake as opposed to just putting on new tips and getting the proper shape I had requested. She asked me at the end if they were good and fixed and I said "no, not really." And showed her the differences (which are quite obvious) and she just looked at them and did nothing to fix them not satisfy my unhappiness. They then still charged me full price, after all the trouble and multiple cuts on my cuticles, and not even giving me a proper uniform manicure. What horrible customer service. That being said, the two men that work there have always given me nothing but a great experience, so this is quite disappointing ! Not sure if or when I'll be going back. Read Less

Popped in for a shellac mani. The lady was nice but seemed in a rush. My polish ended up having a lot of layers which made it look bumpy. Worst part was that after less than a week, I could easily peel the shellac off. Shellac usually lasts at least two weeks for me Read Less
