My hairdresser of 12 years at a salon just outside of Milton was on mat leave, and I was in desperate need of a cut. After a quick google search I stumbled upon the Cutting Edge and saw amazing reviews for it! Just moved to the area and needed to find a local place to get my hair cut. I searched and read reviews ....picking Christine was obvious from what I read. It was a great choice. the Cutting Edge is a warm and inviting establishment. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, making sure your stay there is as pleasant and as satisfying as possible. The senior stylist that took care of me was again, very friendly, very knowledgeable with hair and hair care. She walked me through what she was doing with my hair every step of the way. As a man who has decided to grow out his hair, it took me a while to find a place that knows how to handle as well as understands the needs a long-haired male is looking for. In my case specifically, I came in with the goal of maintaining length but having it cleaned up (dead ends, sideburns, etc.) And as a first time hair grower as well as the first time getting a proper salon treatment in nearly 2 years since I started growing my hair out, I am more than satisfied with the end result. The only thing I can say about the Cutting Edge is that I booked an, as far as criticism goes, is that I had an appointment for 6PM but I wasn't able to go in for the trim until just past 7PM. I understand it can get busy but it was a little long. But as I had the time, I decided I was OK with waiting it out. And again, the staff are wonderful. I'm sure any future visits, I wouldn't have to be delayed for that long again. So in short, if you're a dude with long hair (or short hair for that matter), the Cutting Edge will take care of you and treat you right and create a result that you will be very happy with. Out of all the haircuts that I have gotten this haircut that I have gotten at this salon has to be the worst one by far. I have naturally curly hair and its hard to find someone who knows how to cut my hair and do it well, I thought that from the 5 star reviews, this would be a salon I could finally come to reguarly and have my hair cut well. I was so wrong, I went in needing my hair to be evened out because one side was way longer then the other and my hair needing to be shaped and styled. I had specifically asked the hairdresser to not cut the top layers of my hair because I am growing them out as well as asked for other things to be done to my hair, the hairdresser didn't really communicate with me and I thought that was fine because not all hairdressers do, and while I didn't like the end result of my haircut, I thought I would just wash it and fix it how I like it. She also told me not to straighten my hair which I found a little weird, but I ignored it even though I had asked for my hair to be wearable straight and curly. When I washed my hair a few days later, I noticed that pieces were very choppy and that some hairs where shorter then others and uneven with my hair being curly. When I went to straigten it to see how exactly my hair has been cut, it was a mess, one side of my hair is inches shorter then the other, she the back of my hair is a mess in the layers and looks choppy and uneven, and the shorter side of my hair has one line cut through the top layer of my hair that doesnt even blend and the other side wasn't even cut at all. I am less then impress and I can barely wear my hair down. I am never coming back again to get my haircut here. Read Less

I've been searching for talented stylists/colourists for years and happily stumbled upon this salon. I emailed my sob story of terrible experiences in other salons and asked if there were any stylists there who could help me, and I got a response in about an hour on a Saturday! From the moment I walked in everyone was so friendly and accommodating. My stylist Christine took the time to give me a proper consultation and went to work giving me a fresh cut. I came back for colour with Jenn and despite my stubborn hair she was able to give me that sun kissed glow. Both ladies were so professional and I had an awesome time in their chairs. I just had the most wonderful experience at The Cutting Edge. After bleaching and colouring my hair at home for 20+ years - it just had enough and started breaking (at the top). You can imagine how distraught I was! I called The Cutting Edge this morning and was greeted in the most delightful manner by Susan. She booked me in right away with Christine. Upon arrival at the salon I was asked if I wanted a coffee/ tea and the lady at the front asked if she could hang my jacket and scarf...so sweet! With recommendations from quite a few friends, I found myself at The cutting Edge. From the moment I walked into The Cutting Edge, Amanda at the front desk greeted me with a warm smile. The staff made both my daughter and I feel very welcomed. I had my color done by Jenn, and Jordan cut both my hair and my 11 year old daughter's hair. Ever since Jesse, Aja, and Melissa left... I don't know... I'm surprised they are still open. The owner is a complete nightmare and I have to agree with Sarah in that she is unbelievably catty, unprofessional, gossipy, and rude. I'm glad that Jesse and Aja opened up a salon down the street - Salon Jade - so that people don't have to deal with Sue and can actually get what they pay for. I thought I was going to have to strip my hair and then color it to get to my natural color, but when she consulted with me she told me t hat I wouldn't have to do that.
