Never in my life have my nails looked so bad. Uneven shape, uneven paint, uneven lengths...I don’t even want to post a photo because I am so embarrassed.
Update: I have no interest in returning to their salon or harassing them in any way for any more requests, but someone I know did call out of pity because of how sad I was about my nails to ask if they would fix or refund me. They refused and, also, stated I am basically now unwelcome in their salon and that it is my fault I am unhappy with my nails because I did not speak up. As if I need to speak up to constantly correct someone else’s work when I should already expect them to know how to shape and paint nails symmetrically and evenly. It is their career, in fact, not mine, though I did find myself spending two hours last night reshaping and re-painting my nails. I also did raise concerns about the unevenness while I was there, but the nail tech assured me they would correct it, and that they were not finished yet. So no, I was not going to continually pester them to even everything out when it was already so bad to begin with. I also, at that point, did not trust their ability to fix it anymore and figured too much damage had already been done. I simply wanted to leave at that point. Further, the fact that they have now unwelcomed me from their salon and refused any compensation because of this review precisely illustrates another major reason as to why I did not “speak up” enough while I was there. I’ve second-handedly witnessed many small business owners who tend to act out in this sort of hostile manner when customers publicly speak of or express their dissatisfaction of poor services or experiences, and they have proved my assumptions right by reacting to my review in the way they did.
Perhaps a final anecdote worth nothing: I even brought in an acrylic nail that I had done in the States a few weeks prior that had broken off while I was moving into a new apartment. I told them that was exactly what I had wanted done, except a color change. I was kind throughout the process and had even tipped despite being extremely dissatisfied with the service.
The set I had showed them and brought in compared to the work they had done looks like a sad expectations vs. reality photo, which I have attempted to post under their photos section.
I will raise my review to 2 stars however, because they were quite kind while I was there, at least. I realize I was being harsh because I was so upset about how my nails had looked.
So, if you are looking for kind nail technicians in a relaxing, laid back environment, but have little expectations for great nails or are only seeking simple and minor requests for your manicures, then by all means, do visit. Bring your children here or your family for a fun day. But, if you expect to take pride in your nails and require a step or two above average, then perhaps travel closer toward downtown Toronto where the expectations are a bit higher. Read Less
