It was my first time coming here and i had a Yumi Lash Lift & Tint here by Kelly who did an amazing job! It was my first time getting something done to my eyelashes so I wish a bit nervous (and excited) thankfully Kelly was very friendly and helped  soothed the fears out of me and it ended up quite a relaxing experience :)  Having Asian eyelashes means my eyelashes are naturally a bit shorter but this lash lift made a big difference to my seemingly dull eyes and helped brightens my face up (IMO at least)! On this place rated number one on Yelp so I thought I would check it out for eyelash extensions. I went twice, the second time was quite a bit better than the first time but overall great experience and the best extensions I've had. The whole salon has a nice vibe to it and it's definitely somewhere that I would bring a friend or family member to spoil them. We'll be coming back here in the future for all my eyelash extensions. Went back and got my lashes done by Christin, and I love them!! Got a classic Russian mix fill, fits me perfectly. The Royal wasn’t a good fit for me the first time, given I normally have very full lashes. I love this place! I have Kei as my lash tech and she did a fantastic job at my classic set, she had so much knowledge about different eye shapes and eyelash lengths and let me choose which was better suited for my eyes. Overall it was a really great experience and really relaxing. It took about 2 hours to get the full set done, and I'll be getting a fill tomorrow (about 3 weeks later). Theres still a lot of lashes left this many weeks later, and I wash my face a lot and wear makeup regularly. They look stunning, trust me. I also have Haya as my nail tech and she does a fantastic job! I first came in with super bitten, destroyed, short nails and she still managed to salvage them and apply a great set of gel extensions on them. Im going back to get a fill this week with her too, and not only is she a talented nail artist, she's also a completely lovely person and talking to her while she did my nails last time brightened my day. I was really excited to try Prep for eyelash extensions after reading the great reviews and seeing the beautiful "after" pictures on instagram. I chose a particular technician, Kei for a full set of Royal Lash extensions since I wanted a very experienced person. This was my first time trying "Royal" lashes as they are advertised as being stronger and are the perfect in-between for classic and Russian styles. First of all, if you are driving, give yourself plenty of extra time to navigate the construction/road closures and parking in the downtown area. I ended being about 15-20 mins. late for my appointment due to that, so that is completely my fault.  I called to let them know and they said it was fine but that Kei had another appointment right after me. Upon my arrival I went straight to the lash area. We quickly decided on how I wanted the extensions to look and Kei was great with advising against a certain look due to the shape of my eyes. She was very gentle and the application was fine but I felt like she spent more time applying lashes to my left eye. In any event, when she was done it stung slightly when I opened my eyes and I had maybe one or two lashes that were sticking to my bottom corner lashes. Kei fixed it and I got to look in a mirror. I noticed right away that the inner corner of my eyes look sparse - there was maybe 2-3 applied in that area but she gave me a brush and it looked fine after brushing. My first impression is that they looked okay and overall, it took about 1.5 hours. (I thought well since I was late, she couldn't do a "full" set and that's why they didn't look as full and fluffy as I hoped.) I paid for the service, and then went back to my car to look in my mirror - I was right, my left eye looked fuller than my right. Ugh, I just sucked it up.When I got home, I did a closer inspection and noticed a few extensions sticking together, obvious glue on the left eye, sparse application in the inner corner of both eyes and only one lash applied to the outer 5mm on my right eye. The very next day, a few lashes started falling out. (Yes, I followed the post-care instructions VERY carefully.) Fast-forward, I've had the extensions for a week and I need to have them removed or get a fill. The extensions have fallen out quickly and lots of them are twisted and about to fall out. (This is super irritating as it constantly feels like something is on your eyes and I can see one/two drooping.) I've had good and bad last extensions in the past but never had them fall/twist so quickly.In conclusion, I don't think I would try Royal again as it's a bit pricier than a classic set and I didn't get the the full fluffy look of a new set of extensions as I hoped. I was told Royal was supposed to last a bit longer than classic but clearly they don't. For anyone new to Prep, don't be afraid to speak-up if you don't like your result. Overall, the salon is beautiful and the staff are nice. The music selection in the lashroom was too loud and probably could've been more relaxing. When you pay they give you a little post-care pack which includes instructions, a brow brush, a little chocolate and a loyalty card - I like this a lot. I really wanted to like this shop and I might visit again but I'd try another technician. In the end, I spent about $130 and received disappointing lash extensions that didn't last a week. Read Less

Prep is one of my go tos for all things beauty. All of the lash technicians and nail artists I've ever seen here have been nothing short of professional, and I'm always super happy with the end result. The ambiance is also absolutely stunning and perfect for when you're in need of a little TLC. On my most recent visit, they were able to squeeze me in day of for a gel fill before I left for a weekend trip - thanks so much for repairing my broken index nail on such short notice!! Jen is a recent addition to the Prep team and her attention to detail is definitely commendable. She took her time shaping each nail and asking me if I was satisfied with the results before moving on. I don't remember the last time I had claws that were this perfectly shaped! We didn't have time for nail art on a Friday evening before closing, but after seeing her portfolio, I will definitely be coming to her again for some customized artwork! The fill, as always, was very reasonably priced and the experience was much more enjoyable than other salons I've frequented in the downtown area - I'll be back time and time again. I have been multiple times for lash lifts and tints with Kelly and they have been amazing each time. Once, we lifted too much and she was great and totally open to fixing them, not once but twice. My friend has always wanted to try it so we finally decided to go together. Unfortunately Kelly is on holidays so we had another tech to do it. We did not get a lift, only a tint. I went first and when it was over my eyes BURNED when I opened them and my eyesight felt fuzzy. I've ne...ver had that big of a problem with Kelly so I was nervous. It took a while for my eyes to stop burning and the tech did apologize. She even had to do water eye drops in my eyes which I've never needed before. When it was my friends turn, she felt like some of the dye got in the corner of her left eye, she felt like it was burning and it hurt and said to the tech "I think some of the dye got in my eye, it hurts, that's why it's watering" and the tech disagreed with her and left it as is even tho she said it hurt and was watering! Now this morning she sent me a picture of her eye and it's all red and itchy. I will continue to go to prep, however if you want a lift and tint I would only recommend Kelly. I feel bad for my friend because she was so excited to get her lashes tinted, and post tint she had to splash water on her face in the bathroom at prep because her eyes were still burning and I don't think the dye kept as well to her lashes. I've been coming here for years for lash extensions. Kei is the best! She's also the only one at the studio who currently does the Russian lash extensions (3 extensions per natural lash). I usually get a mixed done (classic + Russian). Be sure to check in to receive 10% off any service. Ok so first off, the. New location is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING! It's just charming down to every detail. Even the "melting" clock in the bathroom. Just perfect! It's so white and elegant. The bird cage seat hanging in front of the giant vintage style mirror is a perfect spot dedicated to "Prép selfies". Just so charming. The lash bar is super cute with a bright white neon sign high on the wall as you walk in. The pedicure bar is like something out of a dream! Beautiful white vintage chairs perched above the pedicure sinks. Just stunning. The vanity stations are a reflection of elegance and opulence. The impression when you walk in is that you've reached those golden gates of heaven in the beauty parlour. After all, what better of an after life could a girl ask for right?! So for my visit I came in for a mixed set of volume lashes. My lashes are gorgeous with national volume but more length. I've already gotten compliments on how long they are but how natural they still look. They offer a range of Lash sets from classic sets to Royal sets to the full out volume sets! Volume sets are usually booked out a few weeks in advance so something to book ahead for if you're a volume seeker!  Not one of my lashes has come out. Amazing retention. In most places usually after the first couple days I start losing a few which is normal but the fact I've lost none (and I've brushed them AM and PM) is exceptional as far as lash extensions go! I am very impressed and so happy to be seeing Prép for my lashes. It's a must see for vancouver if you're visiting and a definite go-to for Vancouverites. The cutest place to have a girls soirette or bridal party. Or to come for a day to escape and relax in the most dainty and elegant environment to date. I went to get my makeup done for my birthday and my makeup was on point. My makeup lasted all day through the night. The staff were very friendly, they made me feel comfortable and the ambiance is relaxing. It takes me about an hour to get there, but it is worth it. I booked Mika and her team as my beauty squad for my wedding in April 2016 and cannot recommend them enough. I was already a regular at Prep for eyelash extensions (shoutout to Alisha who gets me tons of compliments on my lashes!) and was really happy with their work, plus I loved the fresh and modern vibe of the salon. In the waiting room, I saw glimpses of clients having their makeup done and they always looked FABULOUS...so when it came time to choose a beauty team for the... most photographed day of my life, Prep was my top choice. Thankfully, they were available for my wedding and from then on it was really pleasant and effortless dealing with them. Katrina and Destiny at reception are super organized and always got back to me really fast when I emailed them with questions. I had a hair and make-up trial with Mika and Faye a couple months before the wedding which I really enjoyed. I showed them a few pictures and they did a great job of translating the looks onto me. I liked that they asked me very specific questions (like "Do you want more blush?", "Do you want the curls tighter?", etc), I could tell they were perfectionists and really wanted me be happy with the finished look. On the day of, the Prep team did full hair and makeup for TWELVE ladies and believe it or not, we were done ahead of schedule! My bridal party didn't have matching dresses so they all wanted something different for hair and makeup. The prep team pulled off a wide range of looks, from natural makeup for my mom and mother-in-law to full-on glam. The looks held up for the whole evening and it all photographed great! As for myself, I looked and felt fantastic and it was an excellent experience from the first email inquiry to seeing how I looked in my pictures. Highly recommended, you can't go wrong!!!
