Canvas is my go to spot for brows! I live in Surrey but I drive out to Kits because I can't trust anyone with my brows other than Kristina. Kristina is aaaahmazing! She's super sweet and really takes the time to discuss with you prior to your waxing appointment. She offers an honest opinion and takes the time to listen to get an idea of your brow goals. She then maps out your brows making sure all the angles are just right. Since I've been going to her, I've noticed a considerable difference in my brows and growth. You can tell she really puts effort into her work and genuinely enjoys what she does. Once you get eyebrows done from Kristina, you'll be hooked. I've only booked her for brow shaping, waxing and tinting, but she also offers microblading for those of you interested. Although she accommodates drop-ins, it's best to schedule ahead as she books up fast. She's super talented yet humble. I was having a small elopement ceremony to legalize my marriage. I had no make up artist or hairstylist as it was suppose to be a small budget thing. I was able to book for both only a day in advance at Canvas. I explained that I wanted a day time look as my wedding was at Jericho beach, I wanted it to look light and natural. Kristina did a great job with that brief and when I wanted a darker look for my eyes she added to it exactly as I wanted. There was a glitch with getting my makeup done at the salon, and the owner made alternate arrangements at the last minute to ensure everything went smooth on the wedding day. Highly recommend! My friend and I went for mani/pedis yesterday (Sunday) and they were able to fit us in. The ladies were nice, but my friend ended up bleeding twice on her toes and a couple times on her fingers. On one of my fingers one of the ladies filed so hard my finger was cut- I didn't even know that was possible. I highly recommend Canvas Hair Salon. I always have a positive experience there. I get my hair, nails, waxing, threading done here. It is a one stop shop. Everyone is so friendly, professional and always makes you feel welcome, and has your best interests at all times. The Manager (Quyen) works extremely hard, goes the extra mile for you. I came here for my birthday present with my mother in law. We both had a pedicure. Mine was really rushed with only one coat of polish and looked awful because the woman doing my nails had another client I guess. My mother in law's pedicure lasted 30 minutes longer than mine and we were both charged the same amount. It was a disappointing birthday experience to say the least. Read Less

I had a very bad experience here. I went in to get my hair straigthened and was made to feel horrible and embarrassed about having thick and curly hair. The hair dresser kept sighing and rolling her eyes and making faces about how long it was taking, and was brushing my hair extremely aggressively so that it hurt and my head was going in all directions. She was also asking me what country I come from and why my hair is like this. It was extremely rushed.Do NOT go here if you have thick or curly hair since you will be made to feel less than human. I first went to this place because of the good reviews on Yelp - I needed a bang trim and dropped by, hoping one of the hairdressers would have time for me. Luckily I ended up with Quyen. She's probably one of the best hairdressers I've ever had! The next time I went to Canvas was to get my bangs trimmed (by Quyen again), and to get a gel polish with mani. This time Jim was the one doing it, and I must say he does an a-ma-zing job! He cares very much about the details, gives good and honest advice and the result is flawless. I can go for almost four weeks before getting a gel polish change, and Jim shapes the nails so they look great even though they grow long. On top of that he's just a genuinely wonderful person to talk to, so the time spend with him is a real pleasure.I've been coming back to Canvas probably every 3 weeks since I came there the first time, and the only thing stopping me from going back there was moving away from the city. This is my absolute favourite salon in all of Vancouver. I randomly walked in one day and was greeted by the most friendly staff who made me feel like I was walking into their home. I started going there soon after for regular pedicures and hair cuts and never looked back. The owner of the salon, Quyen, is extremely hard working and devoted to her business and to her customers. First time I went it was okay. The second time was horrible! The nail technician was very inexperienced and I voiced how unhappy I was. I felt like I wasted my time and money when they knew I wasn't happy with the final result and did nothing about it. They charged me full price even though my gel polish leaked over to the cuticle. It took her over two hours to do a gel polish manicure and I had to keep plugging the meter. I won't ever come back! I'll stay downtown where they have way better nail salons.When a client isn't happy fix the situation. I'm a very reasonable person. Clearly they care more about money than a loyal clientele base. I have come here a couple of times for pedicures and shellac manicures and have never been disappointed.The salon is really clean.  The chairs are comfy.  And, the girls get you in and out quick.  Every manicure I've had here has lasted about a month (except for the one time I went camping...that was probably a bad idea).The girls are pretty quiet, chatting between themselves sometimes, which is okay with me as I'm not super chatty.  The price seems about average for what I have encountered in Vancouver.  The only note I could possibly make against this place is that there is a TV on the wall to keep you entertained, but it never plays anything that is actually entertaining.  For instance, one day it was playing something on the Canadian government from the 1800's.So far, this has been my favorite place to get my nails done in Kits. The people were great, and got us seated right away. My person in particular did a good job and took her time making sure my toes were perfect.
