EDIT: The owner just contacted me and was extremely apologetic. She offered me a full refund and was extremely honest and said the technician was new and she will make sure this won't happen again. In this case I would give it a try again with a different tech. It's extremely appreciated when managers/owners step up and try to make everything work. I just had the worst nail job done. I have been to Glam Nail Studio 3 times so far, and I have been extremely happy with their services. They are very knowledgeable and skilled. The staff here are very friendly and I always enjoy my visit. The first time I visited Glam Nail I had to get major sculpture extension done because I had badly bitten nails. The artist helped me walked me through the whole process and gave me a lot of advice to grow my nails out and protect them. The result was amazing and the longevity was great. It took me around 2 months to fully grow my nails and my last visit I did not need extension. I am so happy my nails are more healthy now. I usually don't get any complicated designs on my nails, but I decided to get a little bit of art done to my nail last visit. I really love the end result. I will be going back again and again. I've been coming here for almost a year now and I can't go to any other place to do my nails! All nail techs are Japanese and are very skilled. They are very detailed oriented and brilliant artists. There is probably nothing they can't do. The store is extremely clean and has a very relaxing environment. They're always playing a movie on the tv for entertainment. Every time I get my nails done I get tons of compliments! I highly recommend this place for anyone who is willing to spend a little more for their nails and appreciate real talent! Read Less

It is expensive but i feel like it is worth it.I usually go with Liz who is extremely detailed and spends almost up to 3 hours on my nails. I have fragile and small nails which has lead to a lot of bad experiences in cheaper salons. However liz has never once made me bleed unlike these other salons and understands my situation. She takes into account the client's comfort and will set the gel in intervals not to hurt the client. Additionally, she builds layers and sands them down several times by hand (which is why the session may longer). She also takes into account how the nail will grow out and the natural shape of your finger and builds the nail accordingly. I was really impressed! Admittedly I don't come here as often as I should for maintenance so my nails grow out quite a bit but I haven't had a problem with lifting or breaking yet and I often wait a month and a half in between bookings. They're also often booked weeks in advance so it is important to call but they'll remind you with a text message the day before your appointment (which is good because I always forget)My experience is limited to one nail tech but they all seem very nice. I love Glam. They're more expensive than your ordinary, strip-mall nail salon but you definitely get what you pay for. Not only do they use high-quality, top-name products but their technique is also superb. I've gotten two sets of hard-gel nails done here and it always feels like nothing can ever break them. Their customer service is fantastic. When I phoned to make my appointment, they were extremely thorough, asking me what kind of nails I wanted done, what length I wanted them, how complicated the nail art was going to be, and so forth. This allowed them to find an appointment time based on my needs. They were really accommodating - my mom came with me to my appointment and was able to get a pedicure done right away, without any waiting. Finally, their cleanliness lives up to the Japanese standard. Their (pristine, I'm sure) white workspaces are covered with a towel, and then with another paper towel. The girls always wear masks to protect themselves from the fine dust, and extraneous dust are swept away with a buffer brush. Movies are always playing in the background so you don't get bored during your appointment. The girls are also super friendly and willing to chat. There is also a basket underneath your chair so your bag can be kept safe. Offering water is something that could enhance the customer experience. I'll make sure to bring a water bottle with me for my next appointment. If you're on a budget, save your money to get your nails done for a special occasion at Glam. Their designs are so pretty, and definitely last for a long time! Read Less

I am very disappointed. A friend *highly* recommended this salon to me but I don't find the quality of service and associated cost at all reasonable. I had an old set of nails filled, some were coming off and were removed. They were replaced with gel extensions. The surface was bumpy and not filed evenly, the shape of the nails differed from what I requested (straight, slightly tapered edges-- not quite coffin) and was different from nail to nail. Moreover, the excess gel on the sides (after application) had not been filed down or removed properly and so some of the undersides and sides of the nails were visibly jagged. During the application the owner (Keiko) huffed and puffed and expressed a lot of frustration at the process and claimed not to have enough time to properly shape the nails(2 hrs) so they all matched. She asked me multiple times if I was okay with the shape but when I asked for adjustments she claimed my nail bed shape was the cause for difference and insisted there wasn't enough time. NEVER has this been a problem at any other salon I've visited. I found that the nails began lifting not even 2 weeks after they had been done. Overall I am extremely unhappy with the quality of service as well as the lack of respect. She charged me around 70$ for a ratchet job that was extremely rushed. Waste of time and money. I really wanted to love this place but unfortunately I will not be coming back here. I've been here a number of times a long time ago (first time I came here was probably about 2 years ago) and I've been disappointed each time. I've tried 3 different nail techs at Glam Nail. I usually get acrylic nails but here they always told me they prefer to do gel, so that's what I would get here. Quality of the nails they do is very inconsistent. My nails turned out nice most of the time, but they never lasted. They would always start lifting (which never happens with my current nail technician) and sometimes they would snap off easily. I am NOT rough with my nails at all so there should be no reason for them lifting or breaking. My current nail tech at a different salon does my nails and never have I had this issue with her. The nail techs never really gave me exactly what I wanted. Shape was always slightly off and a lot of the time my nails were uneven. I brought a friend here once and she was disappointed with her nails as well. It's always a hit or miss here. Sometimes your nails are beautiful, other times you leave wondering why you wasted so much money on something that looks quite disappointing. There was one time where I needed a nail repaired and the girl that was fixing it seemed very unconfident and gave me the weirdest looking nail that was shaped awfully. I told her it felt unstable and looked weird but she ignored the comment. When I came back to get it fixed AGAIN I told the girl it wasn't my fault and I told her from the beginning that the nail felt unstable. I was still charged for the repair even though my technician was at fault. I was really upset and in shock. That was the last time I came here. After that I went to a different nail salon. I would pay anywhere from $100-160 for just a gel fill. It's not worth it to me if they are not going to last.They are fully booked weeks (sometimes months) in advance. What made me the most frustrated was the fact that sometimes they get so busy that they can't fit you in to fix your nail. I had 2 nails snap off and called in to get them fixed. The girl on the phone told me she could fit me in 1 week from then (seriously?! Just to fix 2 nails...) Another time I had a nail that lifted to the point where it was falling off and needed it to be fixed asap and the girl on the phone said they are fully booked for the next 2 weeks because it's the holiday season. My current nail tech is quite busy too but she always makes time to fix a nail or two if a client of hers has a damaged nail. I shouldn't have to wait 2 weeks to get my nail fixed, especially if it's the holiday season. That's ridiculous. Do you really think I want to walk around with a missing nail on New Years day? What they basically want me to do is hope that none of my nails get damaged and if they do, good luck, suck it up and wait for a week or two until they have 15 minutes to fix your damaged nail. Another thing to note is that it takes them 2-3 hours to do your nails. Sometimes longer if you get a complicated design. I have gotten french nails with a few swarovski crystals on my ring fingers here that took 2 hours. They do have movies that you can watch during this time, but 2 hours is too long for a basic french gel manicure with a few crystals. My back aches by the end of it. No other nail salon has taken this long to do my nails (and they always do a better quality job even though they take half the time.) If you want gel nails and a gel pedicure, get ready to spend minimum 3-4 hours in here. I see why Glam Nail is so well loved by some. They are incredibly talented at doing artistic nail designs. If you want a cartoon character drawn or sculpted onto your nail, they can do that better than anyone else in the city. While they are good artistically, they're not near the best quality wise. I feel like I'm being generous with my 3 stars because I wanted to give them 2 stars but they are nice people and are talented artistically. Their quality just sucks.I haven't been here in a long time and don't plan on coming back. The friend that I brought here with me won't be back either. Been coming here since 2009 and every 4 weeks after that like clock work and I have never been able to find any where who do Japanese gel nails like Glam. They don't get booked up months in advance without reasons.They are simply the best. And when you demand the best you should know it comes with price tag. People who complain about price they should not get so much design on their nails. They charge you for the design you choose. If you have a budget tell them and they can work around it but if you want to have the best and most creative like I do than you're expected to pay the cost for them. Think of it like this, they last for 4 full weeks, its not that bad considering its on your nails 24/7 a day. I have my nails done by from owner ,Keiko, to my regular Aya and Fumi to other nail tech because my nails are so complicated sometimes they need more help to do my set but it gets done in time and the quality you come to expect. All of the nail techs have won multiple nail competition and they are simply the best and on top of their game. Think of them as the Hermes of Japanese Gel Nails.People who complain that they "waited" for their appointment obviously don't understand that sometimes life happens and that other people's appointment run late but they are not going to rush and finish the job badly because the next appointment is up. They will finish to the highest standard unlike most cheap in and out nail salons. If you want to wave your money around than maybe you should wave it to other nail salon because they take pride in their work and they will take as long of a time to finish their nails like they would of your nail if your appointment run late. They don't have time to baby you because they are doing their job to finish the nail as fast as possible rather than spend time telling you they are running late. WHAT HAPPENED: My appointment was at 1:00pm today. I have been a regular paying customer for quite some time each time paying no less than $100 for a fill and nail art. They are extremely anal about having customers confirm via text or phone confirmations for your appointment days in advance; but when it comes to them holding up the respect on the day of your appointment, they fall grossly short. Classic example TODAY.POORLY RUN BUSINESS: Keeping customers waiting more than 15 minutes past their appointment time WITH NO ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OR EXPLANATION. It may seem a trivial complaint, but it can cost a business and it did for them today. I walked right out. Hey if you make me wait 15 minutes past my appointment time without acknowledgement, I will assume you couldn't give a damn about your clientele.POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE - The staff blame customers for going past their appointment time if they choose harder nail art: In one visit, my nail tech, blamed me for going past my 2 hour appointment time over what she felt was a harder nail art design and keeping a customer waiting. Then when I went to go pay, she insisted I tell her 5 weeks in advance of my next appointment whether or not I wanted to do a hard nail or easy nail art design. Are you kidding/serious? How would I know so far in advance? LOL.  I just told her I wouldn't know. Book me for a longer time then just in case. Don't take your own frustrations out at customers. Another sign of a poorly run business.Staff always talk in Japanese with one another while services are performed which to some, is seen as very rude.CONCLUSION: I like most paying customers have little patience for waiting for an appointment that was booked 5 weeks prior. If there's an unavoidable hold-up like today, ACKNOWLEDGE CUSTOMERS AND THANK THEM FOR THEIR PATIENCE. DON'T COMPOUND THE PROBLEM BY IGNORING IT. I like most paying customers, will definitely not wait more than 15 minutes for an appointment I diligently show up for without any kind of acknowledgment or explanation. Staff came up regularly to the counter where I was seated and could have offered some type of acknowledgement or explanation and they chose not to. The manager was also present in the salon today and oversaw everything. From the prices and reviews, I expected much, much more from this place. I'm not one to enjoy protruding "art" on my nails. I enjoy simple, good manicures and polish application. It shouldn't be that hard if you are well-known for all this complicated nail art. Or so I thought... It's true that they have a cute concept going - basket under your chair for bags and other belongings. But, that's it. That's about the most impressive thing about this place. The girls don't speak English very well, so I don't expect conversation. We were checked in and seated quite promptly. The problem with a language barrier in this business is the failure to communicate your product. She had asked if I wanted hard or soft gel. I said I had the soft, soak-off gel on my fingers, and that's what I want today. She brought out a few color wheels and a plastic palette. We examined the colors and chose one from a wheel. She then revealed that the colors on the wheel are for "soft gel", which is an entirely different type of gel polish. Well then... why were we given the color wheels in the first place? Finally, I said I was only here for the $35 gel application - whatever that was. She nodded and took away the color wheels, leaving me with the color palette. It had, maybe, 20 colors on it. I was so disappointed. Most of the colors were also pastel, Spring colors. It's summer... those just won't do! As she was filing my nails, I could tell that she wasn't very good at it. I ended up with lop-sided nails. The application wasn't fantastic either. She remembered to seal the tips of my nails; however, it's been a few days now and the tips have mostly chipped off.On top of everything, they charge $5 for removal even though you are getting a new gel polish set. Altogether, I paid $42 (tax included) for my below-par gel polish application. On my way out, she offered me a package of 3 visits. NO thank you. I'm already regretting coming here once. Forget 2 more visits. Perhaps this place is great for nail art and such, but if you are just looking for a clean and simple gel polish application, forget it. Read Less

HmmmmI was really excited to have my nails done here.Sadly. It turned out to be quite the disappointment. I had prebooked the promo #7. This took forever and the end result was a nightmare. -I wasn't told what the person's name was, nor was i offered a beverage.The one thing I did like is that they played movies to watch. (I was there so long, I sat through almost 2 entire ones! ) My neck and back were so sore, I almost couldnt stand the pain.-I asked the girl to make the stripe silver- she made it gold (as well as all of them way too thin and crooked)-I asked her to make the bows bigger and she argued with me (so much that someone else came and did them)I wish the same person would of also completed the hearts- as they turned out very deformed.-She did not trim down, or push back my cuticles as every other place always has.They look awful-Many of my nails are lopsided, misshapen and or deformed. Looks like they were not professionally done at all. -She also did not clean out the underside of the nails. She left my original nails showing all different lenghts -it looks horrible.-She also did such a terrible job that after 2 days my thumbnail cracked -then broke right off!The other thumbnail, and middle nail cracked as well only 4 days after getting them done! I sent an email about this and have not heard back. After paying 110$ I am quite upset how horrible of a job this place did, especially since they were supposed to be an "award winning" salon! *Please see Photos*They look so bad that i am embarrassed about them - not to mention now I have to pay to get them fixed elsewhere as well as take time out to get them fixed I will not be returning ( since they have not contacted me about the email I sent about the problems I had ) *Update*- a week after getting them done my middle nail broke off so far down the nail bed it is super sore and it was bleeding a lot This is the second broken nail now, plus the cracked thumb which I am sure will also break off at any time. I have been getting my nails done for 20 years and never have they cracked and broke off like this - especially in the first week !
