I received a gift card for a pedi and I had been holding on to it for a while so I finally decided to book an appointment. I called the salon 3x over a 2 hr period and the phone kept ringing and ringing. Nobody picked up so I thought fine, maybe they're busy, I'll go online to book an appointment instead. The online booking service stated there was an available appointment at 3:30pm the same day so I took it. I then received a phone call shortly after saying that they were busy at that time and wanted to bump me to 4:20pm. Again, fine. So I show up to my appointment and the receptionist confirms that I want a gel mani & pedi (my gc was only for a regular pedi, but I was going to pay the difference) and tells me to have a seat.I meet my nail tech and she asks me to pick a colour so I go through all of the options that are given to me and choose the only one that I really like. However, as she's about to paint a layer on my toe, I'm told that they're out of that colour. She suggests an alternate and although I was not settled on it, I take it not to be difficult because it was busy and I didn't want to spend too much of their time by picking another colour. After the appointment I go up to pay and the receptionist is gone somewhere at this point so the nail tech tries to ring me in and says "Oh, you wanted a gel mani-pedi. I got you to choose from the regular colour instead. Sorry about that". Ok, now I'm annoyed. I have a kid and there's no way a regular mani will last me a single day but again, not wanting to make a scene, I said it was fine begrudgingly. I thought maybe at least they would offer a discount but I got nothing. Finally, I give her the gc and let her know that there's around $35 on it and I'll pay the difference. She scans it then says, "no there's only $15". I looked at her a little bewildered and ask if she's sure. Why would I receive a gc that says it's for a pedi and only have $15 on it? Then she proceeds to ask me if I've ever used the gc before! Um no, I think I would remember if I did!! Plus, this is my first time ever at Pure Nail Bar. Well she keeps saying there's only $15 on the card so what am I going to do? I wasn't the one to originally purchase the gc so maybe there is only $15 so I accept it, pay the remaining balance + tip. Immediately after I leave however, I felt unsettled so I called my friend to confirm if the gc was for $15. How awful is it to contact the person who gifts you something and you have to question how much they paid! I was embarassed but it just seemed so odd that the card she wrote to me said it was for a pedi yet the amount on the actual gc was apparently only $15. My friend confirmed that she paid $36.75 total for the gc so I turn around and go back to the salon. As soon as I walk back in, the nail tech is still standing where I left her so I proceed tell her that I just called my friend to confirm how much she put on the gc and she immediately cuts me off and says she realizes she made a mistake and was just writing a note on my account to have the Manager contact me in the morning for a refund. Apparently after scanning my gc, the computer told her the remaining balance that I owed was $15 and some odd cents but she interpreted that as the dollar amount that was originally on the gc. Seriously, where is the damn receptionist at this point?!Finally, she gives me a refund after humming and hawing about how much I'm owed and all I receive again was a simple "sorry about that"....From not picking up your phones, being out of nail polish, giving me the service I did not ask for then charging me extra for the service I got.... I was very pissed off to say the least. I am NEVER coming back here! I really hope that no one else will come here and go through the same inconvenience that I did. The reviews speak for themselves!
