Please please stay away from this salon!!!!!! I cannot stress that enough. Worst experience and unprofessional service at salon that I have ever been to. The lady doing my nails cut and then ripped off my cuticle which lead it to start bleeding... a lot. She didn't apologize or disinfect the cut, and it continued to bleed for hours after. And now I am worried it will bring on an infection. I immediately got up and left.
First of all nail salons are never supposed to cut your cuticles off they are only supposed to be pushed back. I cannot believe how unprofessional Sophia's nail salon is. Please stay away!!!!! and save your self the terrible experience and money. Just like 90% of the reviews for this place it seems everyone is having terrible experiences. I have never once made the effort to write a review on a experience but I needed to share this. In the hopes of someone making a decision to go in will know exactly what kind of service and experience could happen.

Normally I don’t write reviews, but I just wanted to write this as a warning to others. I read the other bad reviews but still decided to try it out because I wanted to form my own opinion. I regret that because the other reviews were right. First of all it’s not $28 for an acrylic fill.. it’s $28 + $5 for them to put on regular nail polish (who would get acrylics with no nail polish?! it should be added in to the acrylic fill price) I also really struggled to communicate with the lady doing my nails because she didn’t speak any english - which I totally understand not being fluent, but she had to call other employees over to ask me questions like “what shape do you want” etc so when I told her 3 seperate times and kept showing her the photo of the nail shape I wanted she still wasn’t able to do it and so I left with a shape that I hate. She also painted 3 coats of nail polish on one hand, but just 2 on the other hand so one of my hands looks like darker polish than the other. Just an overall really bad experience. It may be further for you (it is for me which is why I decided to try out Sophia’s) but I would recommend About Nails on Esplanade. Trust me and don’t go here for acrylics!

I really enjoy getting my nails done here. The staff are friendly and they put the effort in. I unfortunately came late to an appointment and they stayed past closing time and gave me the same attention and care even when they were closed. I would definitely recommend you try it.

Worst experience ever. I've been getting pedicures for many years and look forward to relaxing - this was by far my worst. Instead of relaxing I had five staff members constantly talking and laughing (extremely loudly) to each other - I also had the receptionist (I was in chair beside front desk) blaring asian pop star videos from the computer, along with the local news blaring from the TV. They also stopped my (and the woman beside me) service SEVERAL times to answer the phone. I am all for supporting local businesses but this was an awful experience and when I went to pay the one boy actually said "sorry, this was probably so loud and annoying hey?". I'd rather pay an extra $10 and be treated well. Good luck Sophia.

Great location, easy parking this place could be so much more but management is obsolete and service is horrible. Never a smile, never a hello, never a thank you or even I'm sorry. I had a nail fill and my cuticle was cut twice during the process with the nail file. I am now dealing with an infection. The girl doing my nails never looked up at me once and did not apologize. The work done is very robotic and very impersonal. There are much better places to go, save your money and find them do not go here!!

This place had such potential. So disappointing. I went in asking for a gel set of nails because my experience with acrylic has not been pleasant. First I was kept waiting and didn’t get seated until 25 after my appointment. I sat down and they start preparing acrylic. I confirmed I wanted gel NOT acrylic and the girl working the next chair says it’s the same thing....
NO. It is not. There’s structure gel and theres powder acrylic. Structure gel uses forms to build the nail and a uv light to set. Acrylic uses fake tips and powder to form with shellac on top. They have very different chemical properties and affect the nail health in different ways. Not to mention different removal methods and I’m never getting acrylic ripped off my nails again.
If it’s the same, then why is acrylic $35 and gel $50?
Feels like they were planning on doing an acrylic set and charging me for gel.
I left without getting anything done even though I had waxing booked after the nails. So disappointed.

I really wanted to like this place. I just moved to the neighbourhood and this is so convenient. They are friendly and clean and have good prices. However: I’ve been 3 times and every time it has been the same experience. They tell me it’ll be 5 minutes, and it’s more than 30 until I’m in a chair. Most importantly, my shellac mani starts cracking the next day. It should last 2 weeks. Their UV lights flash on and off while my nails are setting - they said that’s normal but I think it makes the nails less durable. Sadly I won’t be going back.

Horrific experience here, Stay away from this place if your life depends on it. My wife started going to this place a few times. This last time I couldn't believe what they did to her. They had put acrylic nails for her last time and it had gotten longer so she went to remove them. They literally tortured her while removing them and taking her own nails off with them. She was bleeding and crying from the pain and I forbid her from ever returning to this place. She told me they were trying to file it down while it was bleeding. This kind of customer service is unacceptable. If it was anyone else they would claim a lawsuit for this type of torture.

I have been here twice for shellac mani, once for a pedi and twice for acrylic nails with shellac. This place is a solid four stars. They use new tools each time. I would give my shellac manis 5/5, the pedi 4/5 as the exfoliation could have been better and acrylic nails 4/5 as they are a bit thick and not a consistent length but are pretty good. Hannah is pretty good for acrylic nails or shellac manis but is understandably tired by the end of the day so book for earlier. I don't find the place to be overly inviting, and there is a lot of shouting between the staff, but the massage chairs are great, the colour choices are extensive and I appreciate the cleanliness so will keep coming back.

Victoria Day long weekend and I felt a need for an overdue pedi. Called this fresh salon recently opened in this developing neighbourhood to see if they could squeeze me in. They said yes! When i walked in they had 5/6 (massaging) pedicure chairs filled with the last one awaiting my booty. I noted that 3/4 manicure seats were also actively filled. This place is busy!Well-staffed and the facility is CLEAN and bright. Very inviting and feels sanitary. Their color selection is enormous.I got a basic pedi for this first visit. The tech did a fantastic job. No pain! Like for the first time i wasn't snipped! I am very pleased!

Just had a deluxe pedi from here and it was the best pedi I've ever had! The woman doing my feet was just so thorough and the leg massage was fantastic! Highly recommend checking this place out!

Went with my wife for our first pedicure ever; I have to be careful because I have a painful ingrown toenail but the staff were extremely considerate after I mentioned this. I only got some pedicure work done, but my wife got her nails done and they look great. The prices are much better compared to other nail spas in the area. We will be returning.

Please please stay away from this salon!!!!!! I cannot stress that enough. Worst experience and unprofessional service at salon that I have ever been to. The lady doing my nails cut and then ripped off my cuticle which lead it to start bleeding... a lot. She didn't apologize or disinfect the cut, and it continued to bleed for hours after. And now I am worried it will bring on an infection. I immediately got up and left.

Great location, easy parking this place could be so much more but management is obsolete and service is horrible. Never a smile, never a hello, never a thank you or even I'm sorry. I had a nail fill and my cuticle was cut twice during the process with the nail file. I am now dealing with an infection. The girl doing my nails never looked up at me once and did not apologize. I really wanted to like this place. I just moved to the neighbourhood and this is so convenient. They are friendly and clean and have good prices. However: I’ve been 3 times and every time it has been the same experience. They tell me it’ll be 5 minutes, and it’s more than 30 until I’m in a chair. Horrific experience here, Stay away from this place if your life depends on it. My wife started going to this place a few times. This last time I couldn't believe what they did to her. They had put acrylic nails for her last time and it had gotten longer so she went to remove them. They literally tortured her while removing them and taking her own nails off with them. I have been here twice for shellac mani, once for a pedi and twice for acrylic nails with shellac. This place is a solid four stars. They use new tools each time. I would give my shellac manis 5/5, the pedi 4/5 as the exfoliation could have been better and acrylic nails 4/5 as they are a bit thick and not a consistent length but are pretty good. Went with my wife for our first pedicure ever; I have to be careful because I have a painful ingrown toenail but the staff were extremely considerate after I mentioned this. I only got some pedicure work done, but my wife got her nails done and they look great. The prices are much better compared to other nail spas in the area. We will be returning.
