Pure Nail Bar on 3rd and Lonsdale in North Vancouver is fantastic! The salon is clean and the technicians are always friendly and kind. I like the fact that they do not use large massage chairs with the tubs attached as you never know whether they were sanitized properly between customers in some salons that use them. At Pure Nail Bar they set you up on a lovely couch, offer you a beverage and bring a you a large selection of colors to choose from. I like the fact that they use a stainless basin to soak your feet which in my opinion is more sanitary and the tools are sterilized and individually packaged. I do not request one person in particular as all the women there do great work. I have always been pleased with my mani/pedi's and I'm particular. I go there regularly at least every 5 weeks. The prices are competitive with other salons that I have been to on the North Shore and are reasonable. Read Less

I decided to try this place because it is close to home. I usually go close to work but I had a day off so I decided to try here. The girls are really nice but their job is not that great. This was my first and my last time there. There are not tables, there is a long sofa and the position was uncomfortable for her and for me when the girl was doing my manicure. I really felt like my sister was doing my nails at home. It was very very uncomfortable. There is not table to put the lamp so I had to have it on my lamp. I never been in a nail salon where they do that. My manicure usully last 3-4 week, this didn’t even last 2 weeks. I don’t recommend this place. Read Less

I tried this location for the first time yesterday. I really liked the layout and how there were comfy couches to sit on so me and my girlfriend were about to catch up. What I was displeased with was the experience itself. The lady who was doing my toes really filed down to my skin to when i noticed that it was burning. When I pulled away she looked really displeased with my action and didn't apologize and kept filing. The polish job was ok, she didn't clean the sides and it looked like I could have done it. My friends nail person told her she had horrible cuticles but continued to push them back to where she bled. Overall I wasn't happy. Read Less

Worst manicure I ever had. Not only it took 3 HOURS - one hour just to wait, even thought I came right in the time of my appointment, other hour for pedi, the last one for mani. It took TWICE LONGER than it was supposed to be. Extremely long and bad quality of service - the technician was very slow, but she didnt even manage to take of cuticle and excess skin. I'm not sure what happened to this place. The nail technician jabbed my nail cuticle with a metal instrument so hard it took three hours before the swelling went down. The girl kept saying " that's weird?, so I had to actually say " you jabbed me twice really hard." Neither of the girls seem to care, or offer me a discount. I'm a long time repeat customer that has paid this place a lot of money! I hope it wasn't cut because I could have easily picked up something. Not only is it disrespectful not to make up for the injury, or respond back to me but it could be potentially unsafe for customers. It bothers me that they don't use new instruments on each customer as health Canada would require. They used to ? I wrote the manager with no response. I think that was the final straw. Bye girls. Disappointing and frustrating. I went for a mani at Thanksgiving. Less than 24 hours later the polish was coming off in chunks. One nail snagged on my sweater and the whole polish came off in one piece.After complaining and explaining, I was told that if it was 'chipped' I could get those nails redone. I went 2 days ago and decided to upgrade to gel (extra $20)- at least that would stay on, right? Nope - next day two nails werechipped and on was half gone. My job doesn't involves a lot of wear on my hands. Other manicures have lasted well.Don't waste your money here. $45 and I had an awful chipped manicure for Thanksgiving, and for an important event this weekend. Read Less

I normally get my nails done at Pure Nail Bar in North Vancouver. I'm almost always satisfied. The tools they use are always clean and sterilized...that is important to me as I got nail fungus from a nail salon elsewhere. I got to know them well and they are friendly girls. It is not the best service you will get but it affordable and they do a decent job! Read Less

Great first time experience here.  I booked online, and got there early, prepared to wait, but was accommodated right away.  There was a light comedy playing on the TV and I wasn't pressured into any terse smalltalk.  My nails weren't abused during buffing, and the girl working on my nails took the time to do them well, and efficiently.  I got a full UV gel set, and they came out flawlessly.  Two weeks later, they still look great; I just need to get them filled because my nails grew out.  Going back tomorrow morning for the fill.  Think I found the best nail bar in north van :)  P.S.  I was appalled to read some of the reviews here.  Nail technicians are people with HUMAN RIGHTS.  This includes a lunch break.  Don't drop in, impede on an employee and leave snotty reviews because they couldn't accommodate an extra demand.  Additionally, as HUMANS, your nail technician can converse in whatever language he/she pleases, provided its brief and not disruptive of the spa experience.  Finally, it is polite to tip for a service provided to you.  Regardless of the service category, if the person is doing more than ringing in a hamburger for you, tip.  Minimum wage is for minimum work.  Spending an hour plus catering to your fingernails and toenails qualifies as above minimal. My friend and I did not enjoy our experience here.  We found the foot stools very uncomfortable.  The service I had was decent.  The service my friend had was appalling.  The lady who was doing her pedicure looked like she hated her job.  Even if she did, it didn't enhance my friend's pedicure --- at ALL.  We both had french manicures which we were content with.  The pedicures didn't last more than 3 days. I used to come here regularly a few years ago and brought a friend recently. The women who work here are really sweet. It's a lovely salon. Comfy and friendly and more tasteful than some of the other nail places in the area. I really enjoyed my pedi and will be back again. I would say the TV detracts from relaxation from the salon but if it's a movie you'd like..maybe you'd enjoy it. Read Less

With the past weekend weather calling for summer like weather, I decided to drive out to Pure Nail bar to get redeem my gift certificate for a Pure Pedi ($35 value).  The salon is on 3rd Street near Lonsdale, a convenient location with ample street parking.  The interior was bright and modern.  From the get-go, the service was rushed and the amount of customer service was pretty minimal.  I guess they depend on a high turnover.  But going to a spa you want a bit of TLC and luxury, so I was disappointed to say the least.Cons:- employees spoke Vietnamese to each other during my pedicure, which is rude- foot and calf massage was minimal and RUSHED- I was handed a big tub of polishes to select from, but it was really hard to see or compare the colours.  I had to take each polish out of the tub, which was not an easy feat and they were stacked 2 high and falling all over each other-the cool colours were"China Glaze" polishes which does not have the quality of finish or texture of OPI - employee had the nerve to say "Tip is not included with the gift certificate" for her underwhelming performancePros:-plenty of magazines for me to read during the nail service- atmosphere was pleasantRose Nails and Spa in Dunbar has similar prices and MUCH more attentive service.  I would go there instead. Went to visit my friend in North Van and we decided to get manis and pedis. We did not have a good experience at this Pure location at all, which was really disappointing. Every other Pure Nail Bar I've been to I've had friendly service and they always did a great job. The woman who did my nails was very snobby and not very nice to us, and my friend and I felt awkward even talking to each other throughout the appointment because she was giving off a really bad vibe. Then both girls rushed through our manis and pedis, and my friend said she only got one foot massaged and not the other. They rubbed my nails raw too because now I have calluses on my right hand. I've had better polish on my fingers and toes too, it was definitely a rushed job. Will not be returning to this location. There's a lot of nail places in North Van in the same area so we'll be going elsewhere next time. Read Less

My first time going into Pure Nail Bar was great! I opted for Shellac nails and the nail tech took the time to explain Shellac to me, gave a nice massage and gave me cute little polka dots exactly how I had asked for. I was so happy with my nails and had a good experience. Fast forward to my next visit to get the shellac removed and replaced with different polish. It was a different nail tech than before who was too impatient to wait for the Shellac to dissolve enough to gently remove them from my nails. She scraped it off with a cuticle pusher (not an orange wood stick as recommended by CND) and didn't clean my nails before applying the new Shellac. My nails have little bumps where the old polish is still fixed. They are filed unevenly, the french tips are already chipping and applied unevenly and there was no massage whatsoever. i was severely disappointed that I paid over $70 by the time it was all done. Went in for  mani and pedi; it was on special for March for $39.Two people worked on my nails. I requested an upgrade to Axxiom Gel nails but they said they didn't have time.I was there for 1 hour and 10 minutes. No clients walked in after I left.Both girls were in a hurry to finish  within 45 minutes.  I assume because they were waiting for other clients.The AnalysisCleaning of nails and cuticle pushing good.Limited attempts at massage.Quick polishing done and majority of time was spent waiting for them to dry.Honestly my nails did not last beyond three days and I wonder if they truly had the time or they couldn't be bothered to do the gel polish.  I could easily have spent more money.I noticed as soon as they were done and I was waiting that they disappeared to eat their lunch and didn't emerge until I jangled my purse and keys to pay up.
