I had hair stylist Emily and this being my first time in this salon I was little nervous due to the fact I was getting something done so drastic to my hair and someone new was doing my hair. I have a hard time trusting new hair stylists especially since I want my hair to look a certain way and had a bad experience before with a salon out of state where I lived. But Emily did a PHENOMENAL JOB!!!!! She made me feel comfortable and made sure I was comfortable doing what I wanted to do with my hair. I had an incredible experience here. I was a wax virgin before today and I had myself all worked up and scared, but I was actually shocked by how minimal the pain was. The place is so cute, really beautifully done, they really make an effort to make it look posh and classy. The staff are lovely and warm, Sintia was AMAZING. She made me feel so comfortable and she has magic hands, the pain was totally manageable and, even as a newbie, I know that who you go to really matters. I was treated with respect and kindness, everyone was super friendly and professional and I felt totally at ease the whole time. This is as important as the service itself. This was my first time getting a wax at this location (west van) & wow was I impressed! It had a very feminine/magical feeling & the private room for waxing was equally as elegant. There was a little vanity & a small tv (to distract oneself from the waxing). I had Emma who was a very informative & comforting person. She was easy to talk to & I felt very comfortable & confident in her. She did an AMAZING job & I honestly had a great connection with her. I've been here a few times, as I used to live down the street, and never really had a bad experience.A few months ago I went in to get my brows cleaned up, as I do every month, and when the lady finished waxing them I realized I could not open my eye.. she had waxed my eyelid and taken off skin, as well as taking off skin around my eyebrow, and one of my brows were very uneven. They have a great website where you can book online... I loves me some technology. When I feel like getting a wax or remember that it's way passed the time I should be getting a wax, it's the day before. The lady I have been going to since I was in high school needs me to make an appointment at least a week in advance because she's so busy. So I've been cheating on her. And now this website that gives me a calendar and tells me when they're available and I can whenever... I think it's time to break up. I come at least ten minutes to a place I've never been in case I need to fill out forms or something. Spas like to get your info... get to know you... make sure they don't kill you by using anything you're allergic to. They do have a form to fill out. I look around and this place is cute. It's like where I would go and have afternoon tea, it's so pretty. They lead me to the waxing room with some paper undies. She leaves to give me some privacy so I can put on said paper undies. I get on the table and wait. It all happened so fast! The lady was really fast and thorough. I also got a maintenance coupon if I come back within six weeks. So unhappy. Had a upper lip wax done and told the girl that I had a very sensitive upper lip plus I'm going away Saturday to Mexico. She went over an area more then twice and too close to my lip... Rookie mistake :( and ripped skin off. I'm puffy red and very upset. So much for looking my best for my vacation with my boyfriend. Not to mention kissing won't be an option for who knows how long. I haven't waxed in years so I don't have much to compare it to but cutie pie made it easy. I called, said I was a newbie and requested a seasoned waxer. Shawna, was great, kept the mood light and worked fast. Her work was efficient and I'm happy with the results so far (I'm sure after multiple waxes it'll get easier and get some of those baby hairs that weren't quite long enough). I went in for the full meal deal... legs, Brazilian, underarms. Yeah a couple strips were less than fun but it was over fast. I live in Coquitlam but will make the trip back to cutie pie for sure. Because stripped wax bar in Lonsdale shooed me away, I was annoyed about their service. This place had an availability within half an hour which was amazing. Nicole did a great job. Nothing left. When I arrived for my appointment , something had messed up in their system and didn't have me schedule for another hour, even with a confirmation email. They did my brows right away but I had to come back for me Brazilian. It was not a big deal, they gave me a discount for this appointment and next appointment. As a lady with thick hair and sensitive skin, waxing quite frankly scares the life out of me. Add to this the fact that the first time I went for a wax (yeeeears ago) I ended up with every hair follicle infected and subsequently on antibiotics. It FREAKS ME OUT.  But the prospect of going to Mexico and having to shave just wasn't working for me. So - Cutie Pie Wax Bar was recommended  to me. I've been getting my waxing done here for quite some time now, after switching from so many different places and unhappy experiences, I am finally here at Cutie Pie to stay! I love the staff, they are all so welcoming and friendly. When I book an appointment I never have a problem with asking for anyone in particular because they are all great. The environment is so adorable, fun, and makes you feel extremely comfortable. The staff are well educated and have helped me a lot and as well have fantastic products for exfoliating, ingrown hairs, dark spots and scars... Getting waxed is no fun for anyone. However, here the staff do everything to make sure you are comfortable. Cutie Pie Wax Bar is the place to go! The staff are all very friendly and knowledgeable. I always feel extremely comfortable when I go in for my waxes. They offer music or a movie for you to enjoy while you are getting waxed, which I find very comforting considering I can get a bit nervous. The staff are very accommodating to everyone, especially if you are a first time waxer. They will move at the pace you are comfortable with. They have an array of different products for after care to make sure you get the most of your fresh wax. I love getting an upkeep card at the end of my wax, which will tell you when the optimal time to come in is for your next wax and if you book a wax before the date you get a bit of a discount which is amazing and very helpful! These ladies know what they are doing! Yes, it's a bit on the pricey side, but so worth it when you goodies are at stake! Super professional, they chat you up while your wax is happening so your not just laying there awkwardly. And the whole place is super cute! One of my best friends recommended that I try this place, mind you I've never been to another waxing salon before so I can't make any comparisons, but I don't think I'll ever need to go elsewhere again! I'm not in the North Van area often so I was surprised the first time I came here because it seemed like a typical hidden salon, nothing fancy. But one step into the front door and I realized I was wrong - the place is modern and chic, and most importantly, very clean. The wax experts are all extremely friendly and get the job done quick and easy. I was really nervous the first time I did it but Shauna (?) was a complete sweetheart and walked me through the entire process, putting me at ease. The brazilian upkeep is $44 before tax and tip, which I find to be reasonable as there are places that charge more. Cutie Pie really pulls out all the stops when it comes to waxing. The rooms are nicely decorated and bright so you don't feel like you are stepping into a doctor's office. When they leave you in the room to prepare yourself for the wax, they provide you with a towelette to freshen up, which is a really nice touch. They put on a bit of numbing cream to help ease the pain and my waxer used both soft wax and hard wax at first so that I could see which I preferred her to use. The hard wax is $10 extra for a Brazilian and is supposed to be less painful. I opted for the soft wax but they still used the hard wax on the more sensitive areas at no extra cost. I really liked that I was able to watch a movie while I was being waxed... it definitely helped to take my mind off of what was going on haha. They did a really good job and I liked that they gave me a little card with precise instructions on after-care. The prices aren't cheap but I have seen many places in North Vancouver and Vancouver that charge more. Love this place!I found this place while surfing the net for a reasonably priced place that offers bikini  waxing services, that wasn't located downtown Vancouver. Ease of getting to a location and free parking is on the top of my list, therefore i visit the North Van location. (They have a West Van location as well.) Their website is super cute and explains their services in detail. I really like the fact they specialize in waxing. The prices are "comfortable" pricey: $50 + HST for brazilian. (I have come across higher prices with less than stellar experiences.) I made an appointment over the phone after checking out the website and reading Yelp reviews about the West Van location.The place is cute, girly, organized and very clean. Even the bathrooms offer everything you need to refresh yourself in case you got disheveled during your services. ( Like hairspray, q-tips etc.) The staff are very nice and the "wax experts" are really experts! You never feel uncomfortable despite exposing your lady bits to a complete stranger. All my appointments have been on time, and surprisingly, not that painful. Yes, i said it, "kitty" waxing that is not painful. It does exist! I never thought i would feel relaxed while getting waxed. Love that they offer brazilian maintenance at a discounted price if you return in 5 weeks. If you are a returning customer you will get an email confirmation of your next appointment. I found Cutie Pie when I was looking online for the best Brazilian wax in North Vancouver. This was the first result on Google, and I can certainly see why! Their website page is beautifully designed, and very user friendly. You even have the option to make an account for when you do online bookings, which is a very convenient feature! Now for my actual experience... As soon as I arrived at the salon, I was greeted by a very friendly woman at the front desk, who knew my name as soon as I walked in and told her my appointment time. I was asked to fill out a form with some standard questions about what kind of skin problems (if any) I am prone too, as well as some contact info. She chatted with me for a bit, then I sat back and took in the decor. Gorgeous wallpaper with cute accents and pink everywhere! I loved it. The waxing room was done in a similar decor, with soft (but still bright) lighting, and was spacious and very clean. I was pleasantly surprised when the aesthetician asked me if I wanted to watch Mean Girls on the wall mounted TV in front of the waxing bed. I thought this was a clever way for the salon to get around the problem so many places overlook...the awkward silence! Having the movie gave me something to watch, and also distracted me from what was going on. She offered a numbing cream that worked great, and the wax was very quick, painless, and efficient. I felt I was in good hands the entire time. Soothing sprays were applied afterwards. Overall, I really enjoyed my first visit to this waxing salon, and will definitely be returning in the future.
