I’m a regular customer and my last appointment with them was just horrible!!! First, the girl who was assigned to me did a half assed job! She did not clean my nails at all! Buffed my nails and started putting fake nails and that’s it! Second, she was so careless! Wounded my skin and did not even say sorry or clean the wound!!! And third, she over charged me! I usually pay $65 for my nails, but my LAST visit cost me $80! I didn’t so anything different but she charged me more!!! My mom, sister and me always came here but you will never see us again!!! I sometimes go there to get eyebrows done. But the prices very between waxing and threading. One of the ladies do a good job. Getting your nails done can get expensive. The prices don't match what's on the website. It's an alright place, and usually has a lot of customers. Read Less

Love these ladies- they almost always do a great job and if you're not totally happy with something they fix it without question. They also work so hard to get everyone in- so occasionally they are running late on appointment times, but they always manage to squeeze me in with very little notice and I so appreciate that so can definitely forgive running a little late. I've been getting mani/pedis, brows, and massage here- and all the services have been great. I have had bad brow experiences in the past so I am always a little nervous to let someone new near them, but they've done a great job with tinting/waxing and I've been back many many times and will continue to return. Very friendly staff, always happy to make conversation and very welcoming. The nail technicians are quite quick and are very thorough. They always ensure that I am happy with my nails before I leave. I do suggest calling before hand, because they get quite busy and because it is easier to fit you in with one of the more experienced girls. I wish I could come have my nails done more often! I have thought long and hard about writing this review because I know the impact it can have on a business. In the end, I felt I needed to share my experience. About four months ago I started getting my acrylic nails done here by Mary and then I started getting my pedicures there. With my pedicures, I get the shellac polish which is supposed to last a very long time - hence the extra cost. Well, within a week, the polish on 7 of my 10 ten toes had lifted so much that I had to pull it off. While in the 5 years I have been getting shellac (at other places) it has never happened. I figured there is always a first time. When I went back in to see Mary to get my finger nails done, I showed her my toes. It is Mary's response to me that was most concerning. I had become a regular customer for both my acrylic finger nails and my pedicures and I came in giving them an opportunity to fix my nails. Mary's response to me was they were too busy to fix them and that everyone in there had appointments. Yet, two people walked in while I was there without an appointment. I asked if she could slot me in sometime during the hour that I was going to be there, and again, the response was no. The other piece was I wanted all my toes redone. It was a pretty safe bet that if 7 came off in less than a week, the other 3 would come off pretty soon. Mary's response was they wouldn't do that unless they charged me for a polish change. Mary's tone was one that was implying I was trying to pull a fast one. At this point. I'm shocked this is the response I'm getting from the manager. Keep in mind, I'm sitting at Mary's station while Mary is doing my finger nails. So, she had plenty of time to rethink her responses. During that time, staff were available to do a polish change but it wasn't offered. Even though the salon wasn't very busy any more -so much so that I asked again if it could be done today so I don't have to come back tomorrow, Mary had me wait 15 minutes after my appointment with her was over. All that was done were the 7 toes. They didn't even put on the rhinestones I had paid extra to have put on the first time. While the polish could have been old, or the technician may not have "cooked" it long enough, or she put it on the skin, etc ..., there aren't any excuses for lousy customer service. Read Less

Got a gift certificate for Christmas for a pedicure here and decided to cash it in today. Went in as a walk in and they were able to take me right away! I wish I had taken a before and after pic because my feet were so awful and they look amazing now. The service was phenomenal. They even offer a bottled water or a tea if you'd like. The exfoliant they use smells amazing and the massage felt so good on my legs and feet. The selection of polish colours is pretty good. Would definitely recommend this place and will be going back!! The ladies are always attentive and friendly.  Service is excellent- They fit me in on a busy Saturday evening before a party which was so sweet. I've only given a 4 because I'm extremely particular about my nails and want to see how the next few appointments go, otherwise I'd give it a 5.I just moved to New West and had to find a local nail salon.  I found April Nail Spa via IG and looked at the work and comments, so I decided to give them a try.  I booked my first appointment with Mary, a full set of gel nails.  It couldn't have gone better.  Mary is a doll, she listened to what I wanted and made it happen.  She did excellent work and they looked great.I've already been for a fill and it went great.  My gel nails aren't thick, even with gel polish on top.  She filed and shaped them beautifully and always checks to make sure I'm happy with my nails before I leave.  I've already booked my next appointment. I couldn't be happier with my nails and the service I got here!! First Tina started my pedi then Mandy did the painting and nail art. She also did my gel nails. I don't get my nails done regularly so I didn't know what would look good. Mandy and Tina were patient and helpful when I wasn't sure about which color or type or nail art to get. I had a shellac manicure for the usual industry standard price ($28 plus tax). She was gentle, methodical and precise, and made me feel at ease. I have been searching for a good nail tech since my move to New West. I have tried 90% of the places listed on Yelp and finally a SUCCESS! Hazel and Amy are both AMAZING! Excellent customer service and a super friendly environment, they actually speak to you. I have had 2 fills and both have last almost 4 weeks, which is unheard of for me. Cute little designs and great color selection. I have a tendency to lean towards pastels and Amy was great to mention that they may discolor because that is the nature of pastels and she didn't want me to be unhappy a few weeks in. Love it! The lady who did my nails on Tuesday night talked me into a gel manicure (I had booked for acrylic). She was friendly and the nails looked great... FOR LESS THAN 24 HOURS. By the afternoon the next day, 2 of my nails had shattered and the polish on a few of the others was chipped/rubbing off. I had not worked during that 24 hours nor had my hands in water. I could not get to a salon for the next two days and ended up having to try and remove the gel nails myself at home. My nails are destroyed and I've wasted $80 on the manicure plus tip. I would love it if April would contact me and offer a replacement that was NOT gel. Otherwise I guess you get my 2 star rating and no return business. Too bad. I wish I had a better story to tell. I was in desperate need to remove some old shellac and get some replacement color. On the way home from the skytrain I googled what was near by the New West station and decided to give this place a try.They were able to fit me in without an appointment on a Sunday afternoon even though they had a few customers already. My manicurist was Hye Jin.She did a great job removing the old shellac (which always seems like such a trial), and shaping and cleaning my nails. She trimmed my cuticles without gouging my skin, which is always appreciated. She applied the polish beautifully, very evenly, no dripping or thick spots. Because YELP is a fraud, that's why!I would give this place 2.5 stars but the system in Yelp doesnt work that way. The staff works quickly and my pedicure was average. I suspect that they don't clean the foot baths like they are supposed to. When I was there I watched other ladies getting their nails done and everyone seemed happy with the results. Everyone, that is, until one lady came in unhappy that her shellac polish had peeled off in 3 days. They sat her down and redid the polish and she seemed happy enough when she left. I can truely say that if your in a hurry they will do their best to get you in, but I have had better results at other salons in the past. One thing the staff should work on is the chatter in Viet. This place is clean and comfortable. My first time was a gel fill and it lasted 4 weeks. I was so happy to Meet Mandy and the service and quality of my nails. Today I came back to get my second fill and as my first visit I got treated and welcome with the team of April nail spa. Mandy and Mary are both super nice and It feels like home again. Love love love! I went in for a shellac French manicure. They were friendly, polite, her work was so detailed and completely freehand. They're social but also have the usual tv shows on and a neat fishtank to watch if you prefer not be. French does take an hour (as it should) and totally worth it! It pains me to give these guys a less then good review...I was loyal to them for a solid 4 or 5 months.These guys have some really great deals for mani and pedi's.  The owner is really friendly and knowledgeable, most staff are very friendly and willing to accommodate.This was the first time I had paid such cheap prices for a shallac manicure and it lasted 3 weeks!However, my experience recently turned me way off.  There were a couple of new girls in, and I had booked off a shallac manicure and pedicure.  I found the ladies to be rude, unfriendly and clearly didn't understand what it means to be polite or curtious.  I even had one yell at me for "getting distracted".  Maybe Im crazy, but perhaps having a TV on for the public to watch could be considered a "distraction".  I was ordered around to move my feet and legs very rudely.2 days later, 3 of my nails have chipped and/or broken off.Not returning to these guys after this. I had a wonderful mani/pedi at this sweet lil' nail salon. It's just down the street from New West Skytrain station and I had no problem getting an appointment for the same day I called. And while I was there, they seemed to get a lot of walk-ins, too. It was tres cheap ($30 for pedi, $20 for mani) and in no way did I feel rushed. In fact, counting the drying period - "OK, sit, relax," the nail tech insisted - I was there for well over an hour and half. I sat in the craziest massage chair ever throughout the whole thing, which included foot and hand massages, a skin softening treatment on my hands, nail and cuticle trimming, and of course, polish. Despite my best efforts, I did muss the polish job on the way home, but for the most part, the colour is still going strong a full week later. Speaking of colour, I love the colour on my toes - OPI number 78! I remember this because while I was drying, another lady came in, saw my colour, and insisted on having it as well. How cool was that? What I liked best about April Nail Spa  was the friendly neighbourhood feel, from the sweet nail techs to people in the next chair you could strike up a conversation with. I don't know, but maybe the sunny yellow walls have something to do with it - or maybe it's that they don't have those goofy pictures on the wall like Pure Nail Bar.
