Cute place, fairly priced, all of their techs are talented and detail oriented. They truly do an amazing job. Becca and her team at Stella and Shay made my wedding preparation a dream come true! This salon not only is beautiful, the hair and makeup artists are true professionals and simply so talented. Becca was extremely organized throughout the planning process, and she coordinated the hair and makeup of 15 people plus also doing the hair for all 5 of my flower girls (all under 8)—not an easy task. We never felt rushed or behind schedule and we truly were able to enjoy spending time together in the morning. pics on website made me want to try this place. Brought in a picture of what I wanted but left very disappointed. The nail tech I was with took almost 2 hours to finish my nails. The shape already looked fine and she just kept filing them over and over. Once it finally came time to paint them she seemed very unsure of what I wanted even though I had a picture. Asked for marble accent nails but they ended up looking more like tiger stripes. I was there for a ridiculous amount of time and didn’t even leave happy, also noticed people who had an appointment were waiting for up to half an hour before someone started on their nails. If I ever get my nails done, this is the only place that I'll go. The staff is wonderful and friendly, and so accommodating. The selection of polishes is top notch. The decor is cute and hip. They greet you with a drink. There isn't any terrible chemical smell that you're used to at other nail salons. Why would I go anywhere else? I don't think it is too pricey, you get what you pay for. If you want to go somewhere for nails/hair/waxes/to treat yourself, then your best bet is Stella & Shay Beauty Bar. Not only is the salon absolutely stunning, but also the staff is unparalleled. I wish I could give this place a full 5 stars for the few exceptional staff members and the owners but there are a few areas where it falls flat. There are several staff that know very little English. To the point where my nail tech had to ask one of his co-workers to translate for him when I was explaining I didn't want a particular nail filled too much due to some pre-existing minor trauma. The manicures are always great. Anna in particular is wonderful. She doesn't feel the need to over-take the appointment with constant conversation (which is nice for me personally - I like to relax and watch the home design shows they have on) but when she does she's funny and a pleasure to converse with. there are other great techs but I, unfortunately, do not know they're names. I went to Nailie for shellac manicures every 3 weeks for approx. 6-7 months. While the quality of my manicures was always great and the price reasonable, I stopped going due to a few concerns. I saw the same woman the first few appointments I had and liked her and her work. However, despite requesting an appointment with her at time of each booking I would be told upon arrival she was too busy or there was an issue with scheduling so I had to be placed with someone else. This was alright but as other reviews have stated many of the staff are difficult to communicate with and spend a lot of time chatting and socializing in another language during appointments. It's difficult to build trust or rapport with no continuity. On two occasions instead of a full manicure I was told I could just have a polish change as they didn't have enough time (despite me having a booked appointment). Further to the issues mentioned above I grew concerned with the lack of a professional vibe during appointments. On two occasions a client was allowed to bring her dog in and it wandered around the business for the entirety of her appointment (not at all sanitary for a nail salon in my opinion). Secondly, on one occasion I overheard the owner openly discussing criticism she had read online from previous clients and laughing it off. The staff also many times have their young kids inside the salon hanging out playing with each other or on electronics. Anyway, I know some might see this as "first world problems" in the grand scheme of things and that's fair, but for a full time working mama who really enjoys the hour or so of solo me time I just didn't find the overall experiences to be worth it and have since switched to another salon. I don't usually write reviews, but I had to for my experience at this nail salon. My 2 friends and I booked pedicures, we walked in and stood around inside for about 4 minutes for someone to even acknowledge us (it wasn't that busy). The overall pedicure was fine. Until I asked for a small feather or flower design on my toe, whichever they could do. The male doing my pedicure started attempting a feather.. it basically looked like a blob. I asked him to add something to it so it wasn't so plain and small.. he added a sparkle line. The worst part was the female walked over, looked at my nails and laughed at what an awful attempt of a feather this was, and walked away. Yes it was funny because of how bad it was, but good service would offer to redo it or just take the polish off and leave it the plain colour.. terrible service, my 2 friends and I will not be back.
