Li and Julia are amazing. My nails are always perfect and Li will not let you leave unless they are. Julia does the most amazing nail art and I get complements everywhere I go. I had acrylic nails put on and then had them filled once. They looked good and I felt they did a good job. However, I then went in to have the nails taken off. I felt like they and were kind of annoyed that I wanted them off and not filled, as that would be the end of my business till next time. When they took the nails off, they did absolutely nothing to soften them. They literally pried and pulled them off. It was like torture! It hurt and totally ruined my nails and nail beds! Over a month later, some of them still hurt to touch and when the shower water hits them. I would not recommend Hip Hop nails for this reason. If you ever want the acrylic nails removed, your nails will hurt and be ruined for months! Read Less

I have read some of the posts on here that are negative, but that wasn't my experience at all. Of course, that's the nature of business. Sometimes things don't always go as planned and maybe mine won't next time. But, as for my first time, it was my very first pedicure ever, and I was a walk-in. DO NOT GET YOUR ACRYLICS OR GEL REMOVED HERE. Very poor, amateur technique that will hurt your nails and is actually painful. Mine are still recovering, one month later. However, good applications, good nail polish choices, friendly staff. Affordable price. You get what you pay for.Read Less

This place is a totally joke made an appointment for 3 all together when we showed up we were all in different spots and playing musical chairs this was the absolute worst nail service I've ever had my sisters nails cracked mine bubbled and my moms was way too thick!!! I've had pedicures here multiple times and no complaints at all, always turns out great.I've also had acrylic/gel nails done many times - I've gone in a for a fill on this last set probably 5 times now and they still look amazing. After visiting 4 other salons for gel nails and having them chip or break within a week or two -I work in an office and the most strenuous thing I do is scrub pots at home (gave the maid the day off -lol), this was very dissapointing. I dropped a friend off at the Hip Hop nail salon in Coquitlam. Since I was her ride back, I decided to stay and witness what is one of the most excruciating process to watch if you're a man.  I have to say, that even though I wasn't part of the process, I was interested in what was going on thanks to the graciousness of the owner and "cuticle master" Lee. He works there with his wife Julia, and they both have a lust for their work that is missing in most salons. They have a laid back attitude that makes everyone around them feel comfortable. It's like getting your nails done in your own home. They laugh and talk amongst each other and they'll talk about anything with you.I found out that they are one of the only places to do two tone acrylic. Apparently this is a big deal for women (not men thankfully).Their prices are cheap and they do a wicked job according to the women in the place. Apparently so, Lee has had to hire three women in the past month due to their business growing as fast as it has. They will squeeze you in if you're in a rush, which sounds like a big deal.I wouldn't know. My nails are perfect the way they are. Read Less
