I went in for a simple gel polish manicure, and have unfortunately wound up with absolutely butchered nails - and the experience itself was even worse. The woman was rough and very unprofessional, smacking the top of my hand to indicate that I had to put my nails under the lamp instead of simply asking me to do so. My cuticles were pulled off roughly and incredibly unevenly, leaving me with several hangnails the day after. The polish applied looked "lumpy" to me when all was said and done, but after soaking off the polish of one particularly lumpy nail myself, it's not the polish that was lumpy: the woman used an automatic tool to file my nail SO unevenly that the surface of my nail is completely screwed up now. The "massage" at the end of the manicure was sloppy and rushed - she was too busy talking to the other employees to really put any care or attention in at all. And to top it all off ... I have a quarter sleeve tattoo on one of my forearms. At one point, the woman roughly grabbed my wrist and turned it awkwardly, so to display my tattoo to the line of women working on pedicures. She ran her finger up and down the length of my tattoo, laughing - and everyone else started laughing, too. They were speaking in Vietnamese (which is totally okay) but I sort of expected maybe someone would explain what they were saying ... but no one said anything to me. They just pointed and laughed, MULTIPLE times. It's a beautiful tattoo and I see no reason as to why a group of people would do something like that, point blank, to my face. I left the salon feeling disappointed and humiliated. I'll never come back, and I strongly discourage anyone (particularly those of us with visible tattoos) to visit this "salon". Read Less

Asked for a gel set, didnt prep my nails or clean my cuticles. After THREE DAYS I lost three nails with two nail colour completely peeling off my nails. Came back to get it fixed and she didnt clean the excess under my nails, didn't clean my cuticles after asked ( because she said they didn't do that ). I wish I can leave no stars at all, as it was such a terrible experience. The service was horrible and its way over priced compare to other better places. I left halfway and still paid for them for ruining my nails and now I have to go somewhere else to get my acrylic nails removed. The ladies were very nice and I was seated quickly but the nails were done extremely poorly. I had the owner do an acrylic set and it was flat from the tops and uneven all over, and even the nail polish was filled in poorly. I used to go to Urban Nail Spa every 2 weeks until one of the girls that did my nail was rude and sarcastic, she never looked at me when talking. She used a very rough kind of nail file that it was so painful, of course I was startled and jerked my finger off. She was not so happy that I moved my hand then she said something in Vietnamese to the girl next to her that's not nice, I can tell by her facial expression. I like the lady working on my nails but kind of rude cause she talked to her coworkers in front of me in their language and looked at me which I thought they were talking about me. I wouldnt go to any of these nail salons inside metrotown. Came here only because i had a broken nail but needed a color change also. the guy that helped me was nice and all, unfortunately didnt seem to know what he was doing. i said i wanted to soak it off, 1 second to him ripping it off i said "no! soak off please". the shaping was off, super thick, sat there for a good hour and i was cut. paid close to $80 with 10% off for cutting me...i expect a salon placed inside metrotown to be more professional, not just how it looks inside. I came to this salon because I was already at metrotown and needed to get my nails done because I dyed my nails yellow when cooking with tumeric. I had acrylic nails on and only requested shellac polish. They told me it was $5 to remove shellac on my nails and $20 to put on shellac polish.The lady took off my shellac on my acrylic nails but then started to reshape and file down my nails (I'm not sure why she was reashaping  them I only asked for shellac  polish). removing polish, shaping and painting my nails took a total of one hour(shouldn't take this long). The shape of my nails before I entered were very nice, once I left the store my nails were crooked.Finally the lady started to apply my shellac polish (very slowly) and using nail polish remover to constantly clean up my nails near my cuticles and corner if nails. During this process a client came in and told the estheticians that she had shellac done at their store last week and her polish was peeling off. The ladies kept apologizing that the polish must have been bad... And redid her nails for free. This should have been a warning for me because less than 3 days later my polish was peeling off. They use a cheap shellac polish because I know my friend buys this exact shellac brand. 1 week later, 5 of my nails are chipping and peeling off like rubbery glue.I'm only giving a couple star ratings because the 2 ladies I dealt with were atleast nice. I came here today with only 15 minutes notice for the first time needing a nail fill, and the place I had gone to before had just completely obliterated my nails. Mine underneath were so damaged, and broken. I had gotten colour powder, and my technician was incredibly kind in taking it off, despite the fact that she could have easily said no after she explained they don’t have the powder. I asked for a new set, a s the technician said no originally; my nails were too damaged. I appreciated that so much because nobody else has bothered to tell me. I really loved And appreciated that she would let me know. The whole time she was so careful and apologetic that my nails were wrecked and she was so careful. She was very kind and very patient with me, and super friendly to talk to. The whole time she was very professional, and although she made it clear she would rather not have done what I was asking, she made sure that I was happy with the job, and I really am. I dropped in today for a pedicure. Luckily i didnt have to wait at all. Brenda took me in right away. Shes definetely knows her stuff, very detailed and put lot of effort on her work. She was very professional, kind and gentle. I briefly had any ideas what color i wanted, Brenda just picked the right color for me. I've been getting mani-pedi-massage combos since I was 12 when my mom would take me, so I've had over 15 years of going to nail salons. Urban nail in my opinion gets 5/5 from me because of their staff, BRENDA. She's amazing at pedicures. She's thorough, gentle, and kind. In addition, what I like about this salon is it's clean, spacious and it's inside a mall. So it means, there's a lot of parking and there's air conditioning during summer. This place has 12 manicure stations and 7 pedicure stations, which means you don't have to wait long for a spot. However, like in any mani-pedi place, it's better to make an appointment... but like in any mani-pedi salons sometimes you have to wait because some customers (from what I've witnessed) are rude, demanding and unrealistic. So, if you're interested in a gentle, thorough and kind service, definitely ask for Brenda at Urban Nail in Metrotown Mall. Read Less

Worst experience I've ever had got my acrylic nails filled and my friend got a full Acrylic set. The shape was done so messed up, they were too thick! Please do not go to this nail salon. I came in for a fill yesterday and it was the most rushed I have ever experienced. The salon was very quiet and it was in the middle of a week day so they were not busy so there was no reason for my fill to only have taken 35 minutes. The nail tech did a very sloppy job and did not care at all. My nails are slanted and uneven because she filed each one and shaped them in about 5 seconds for each nail. The electric file that they had sounded and felt like nails on a chalk board. Then to top the experience off the nail tech got very mad at me because apparently I wasn't putting my hands in the UV box properly, and then when we went to give my nails the final wipe my thumb looked like it had wet nail polish that had been touched and was all bumpy. She tried to say good-bye, but when I showed her my thumb she got even more angry and tried blaming me, shaking her head very angrily and mumbling rudely. She then very roughly and very quickly filed off the messed up gel polish and then while there were still little bits of the old polish left on my thumb, she started painting my thumb once again and was very rude about it. I have a friend that has been going to Michael for 4 years. Naturally, when I told her I needed my nails done for my wedding... She sent me to Michael. And oh my gosh... He did such an amazing job!! He's a really really sweet guy who is excellent at what he does. He has a knack for creating a style that suits his clients so I let him have free reign over my nails and my only request was that he keep it looking classy. I absolutely love my nails!!! My hands have never looked better. My nails took an hour and a half to do and he was so careful to make them look extra special. He even told me to come back if any happened between now and my wedding. It's easy to tell that he cares about each client and I was seriously impressed with his service. Awful experience TWICE. First time, asked if they had time to do two pedi at the same time they said yes, made us wait forever to start, and had one start way before the other. Second time yesterday on my birthday, made an appointment for 8pm for 2 people for mani AND pedi. Once again made us wait but even longer. At 820 my feet still had not been touched while my girlfriends pedi had started 10 minutes before. The salon closes at 9pm, and I was wondering how they planned to finish two gel pedis in that time frame, not to mention 2 mani also. Worst experience will NEVER go back. I was honestly so in love with my nails the first time i got them done which was last week (refill). The next day I noticed that there was a crack on the side of my nail from before the refill the girl had done, I guess she didn't notice it was cracked. I went back Saturday,and I understand they are busy but there customer service was so bad. I walked in to tell them what had happened and everyone inside the salon turned to stare and listen...awkward. One of the ladies came up to me with a file and kind of filled my nail on the side, yet the crack was still there.One of the managers ( i think ) came up to me and looked at my nail and said "we are really busy right now, I only have 2 hands." I checked the reviews for this place 2 minutes before I walked in to avoid a disaster. Pretty much all the reviews were extremely negative and I was about to postpone my gel manicure for some other place and time even though I kinda needed it for a party the next day. I decided to go in and confront the manager/owner about their negative reviews, just so they were at least aware of their reputation. He reassured me that those negative reviews were isolated incidents and eventually I decided to take the gamble and go for it anyways. JENNY was the one who did my manicure and it was great. Please DO NOT go to this nail salon! I went in for a French pedicure 2 weeks before my wedding and now I have a pedicure nail infection! WHAT A DISASTER!!!!!! She cut so deep and was using unhygienic tools that caused an infection on my right toe and the worst part is... I went to the doctor and he can't prescribe me antibiotics because I'm 6 months pregnant. Had a unpleasant experience with urban nail salon with my first time visit. Came here on August 27 to get a last minute pedicure before I left for the long weekend. Came in , sat on the massage chair .. Played around with the remote and the lady started the pedicure. This is usually the one time you get to relax sit back and let them do their work .. So I did while enjoying the massage chair. Once done I paid and left. Eventually I get back to work and someone notice my jean jacket had a pink stain and pointed it out , turned out it was a huge pink stain on the entire back of my jean jacket that I wore while getting a pedicure. Couldn't think of where It may have came from until I realized the pedicure chairs was red and with the heat / massage the color must of rubbed off. I called the salon right away and informed them , they told me to come back but I was already half across town and was leaving town that night. 3 days later when I got back I went to the salon right away and showed them my jacket . They were unprofessional ( not surprised ) started saying it was impossible to occur, the color of the leather seats was not the same as my jacket , screaming in front of other clients and even accusing me of causing it and coming back to blame them. They started calling me names in their Vietnamese language which I understood also lying about the owner managers contact information and that he was away for 6 months. Brutal experience! Im usually super skeptical of nail places, but this place "confirmed" that once again!Went for a mani pedi cus i was in desperate need of one.
