This was the absolute worst manicure I have ever received. I asked for my nails to be filed to the tops of my fingers and she immediately cut them to the quick with clippers. She then cut and filed them so deep into the corners I woke up this morning and they were lightly throbbing because they almost feel ingrown. Not to mention she filed the sides so narrow and short they just look ridiculous. After the polish was applied she put lotion on my hands and arms without wiping them down first and rubbed all the filed nail dust into my hands. Today I went to do my nails here, there was a confusion with price. The lady doing my manicure said total would be $70 which ended up being $84. Moreover, as she was also taking off the extra skin on my nail it made me bleed. Aside from that, the lady that was doing my pedicure was nice, didn't make the full set gel though. I've been here a few times and had great service, but this visit was very poor. We had appointments for 3 at 5:30, ideally to sit beside each other and have a visit. My appointment started roughly on time, while my two friends were kept waiting 1.25 hours. I was sitting in the pedi chair, and they were chatting and keeping me company, but it was never explained to us why our appointment time apparently didn't matter. Another group of three came in for the same appointment time, yet there weren't enough technicians, and they were started before us.Why make an appointment if it won't be honoured?It's very disappointing, because I liked this salon in the past, and they've done good work. I've been going here pretty much since they opened and always manage to get ripped off. Their work is decent, but their prices are not what they advertise. Their price list clearly states $25 for an acrylic fill with regular polish, so I'm left wondering why I pay $40+ every time. They bring the calculator out and punch in some random numbers and come up with a total. This is NOT accurate. There is no way nails should have 55% tax.. It may not seem like a huge amount but when you go twice a month, it adds up. Every time I ask them about the price, they give me a bs answer about some extra charges which are stated NO WHERE. The breakdown of the service If you're an in and out type of person this place is definitely for you, came in needing of a pedicure out within 30-35min, the technician is very quick, I felt a little rushed but as long as you get the job done I guess... I felt like she could've paid a little bit more attention to my cuticles or even the skin my toes when she was filling, asking me what shape I want for my toe nails would've been nice, but it's $28 so it's cool. Cleanliness, HUGE FACTOR, I see that they sanitize all their tools but the one thing would make me not come back its that they don't sanitize their tubs.... It could result in toenail fungus...YUCK!! As I'm sitting there watching the technician clean the tubs, all she did was scrub the tub with some sort or cleaner and alcohol but they never ran the tub with bleach or cleaner, because how else are you suppose to clean the inside.... Good service, convenient, and fantastic job!  Smells wonderful when you walk in.  Love the soothing lavender aroma.  Got our pedicures right away and gel polish while our toes dried.  Extra $3 for your own files to keep or leave on file.  Looks sanitary to me.  This will be my to go place when I'm around. Pedicure was very poorly done. Butchered my nails all unevenly, super rushed (even though I had an appointment), didn't put on the foam toe dividers the first time so my toe rubbed to the next and she had to redo. Then she just wanted to do one coat saying that two coats is "too thick". Lame. I asked for two coats and a top coat (which I doubt she would've done had I not asked for it). End result of the polish job - coated unevenly, some side areas missed. And who charges for a nail file and buffer?? That's just the cost of business. Two big thumbs down for me!!! Read Less

I also did Brazilian wax and ladies you know how awkward it can get right? Having a stranger down south, you know what I mean  But Michelle was all professional about it. Decided to give this place a second chance after a chipped 2-day old shellac manicure. I got the spa pedicure and it was heavenly. $25 and you get the works- amazing massage chair, cuticles, nail trim and shape and buff down. Leg massage with lotion & even a hot stone massage. Best value for the best pedicure i've had. The lady looked young but she was gentle and did an amazing job. I came in last minute without a reservation and the staff was very accommodating. I did a Mani/Pedi combo for $40 which is a decent price. They did take over an hour but there was some shifting because of people who did make reservations.Side note: they charge you for a file and buffer if you don't bring your own. That cost an extra $3. That said, to each their own. Guess it helps in the hygiene department.I didn't mind though because I got the fantastic chair massage and warm foot bath. The place is hygienic enough, still looks "newish". The staff aren't overbearing which I prefer. As usual, they attempt to upsell to shellac or gel but this place stopped after I just said no. I've been to my fair share of nail salons and this is easily the best salon I've been to in Burnaby. I originally started going here because I was looking for a new salon and it was about a two minute walk from my house. I always get my nails done by Michelle, who is amazing! They do get quite busy at peak hours (12-3) but they always do a great job. It's never rushed and they're very patient as I'm a pretty indecisive person when it comes to my colour. I've been here couple times before(2mins walk from home) We made an appointment @2:30 for pedicure when we got there literally 20kids are inside (+ some of their moms) most of them are just sat there and chat. Super noisy, crowded and messy. After 20mins of standing waiting(of course nowhere to sit) the girl ask us to sit pedi chair in front of washroom. We soaked our feet for another 30mins before they finally come to us. We should have left at that point!!!!!!!Our appointment was @2:30. They started to work on us @3:20.Beside, that +20 kids were still there!!!!!!! So I was suppose to get mani&pedi combo which two people should work together and finish at same time-as far as I know. One girl finally started to do pedi for my husband, I was waiting another 10mins. After one girl started on my pedi, another girl came to remove my nail polishes- she did 4 fingers out of 10 & left to get payments from 20kids- and then she said her customer who had appointment at 4 arrived early so she need to go to her. WTF?????So one girl did my pedi and mani after.That big group of kid were completely gone by almost 4PM. I was having headache by noise. No relaxing or peaceful moment at all. Long story short, we wait 1hr from our appointment time, my husband had to wait another 1hr for me after his service. They rushed to finish cuz of there running late. Lots of air bubbles on my nails. I had a decent experience at this nail spa.  I found it randomly because my sister and I were in the area and looking for a place to go to for shellac.  I just arrived in Vancouver after being away for a couple years. My sister usually goes to a nail spa in Yaletown and because of me being in Burnaby she agreed to try this place with me.  We had every intention of returning to this place if the experience was good, so we purchased the nail kit ($3) for them to keep for our return visits.  It turns out, we won't be back.At the beginning of the service, we both advised that we did not want our cuticles cut.  We just wanted simple manicures with shellac. We already had shellac and needed the previous polish removed.  My nails turned out great, but my sister had a crack on one of her nails so her nail artist told her that it is best not to complete the job to avoid any infection.  Her nails were filed and a little bit of skin was cleaned up around the cuticle (no cutting though).  She washed her hands and the lady put lotion on her hands (it was not a message).  My bill came out to $28 ($5 removal of shellac, $18 manicure, $3 for the nail kit + tax).  I was content with my bill.   My sister's came out to $22 and she was livid.  In any other nail shop, the owner would not have been so desperate to keep the full cost of a manicure, which was not complete.  We seriously thought that her bill would have been $12 max.  We discussed this and the owner politely explained and tried to justify why the fee was $22.  It seemed ridiculous, but my respectful sister, paid the bill and let it be known that she will never return.  I let her know as well.A better solution would have been for the owner to give my sister a $10-12 credit towards a future service, since the manicure was not completed today.This store has poor communication, doesn't listen to the customer well and is not interested in retaining customers.  For a full complete wonderful experience, do not come here.  Stick with Pure Nail Bar. I've been getting my nails done forever, and I'm so happy to have found this place. I love the look and feel...very stylish interior decor. They have very reasonable rates and I always add gel polish and foot massage to my mani/pedi. Michelle does my manicures and they are always flawless. Ping gives theeee best foot massage and even uses hot stones. Heaven. I call before I come because I don't have the patience to wait, and so far they always have time for me :) I love that they give you the option to buy your own files/buffers and store them for you. Gives me peace of mind to know they're only used on me. Free parking in the underground by Browns :) Oh and they have SO many gel polish colours to choose from and keep up to date with new releases. The girl doing my nails took her time but I told her it was fine and i didn't care because In all honesty, i preferred that she was doing a detailed and thorough job. They are cheap and clean. And I'm gonna say they are clean because they are brand new. $25 pedicures, $18 manicures, acrylics and gel around $40. They also wax and do facials/microdermabrasions (range from $35-$80).  I'm getting pedicure right now as we speak. Girl who is doing my pedi is obviously new, since she is cutting my cuticles with extreme slowness. I cannot describe how sloowwwww and gentle she is going, it's like she's scared to touch me. At this rate I could probably get married and have a kid before she is done with my feet. I like efficiency, and efficient she is not. Also, the lady next to me is training a new girl and she is just sitting there watching the older lady, I don't think they're certified nail techs here. They also tried to sell me a nail buffer/file in a baggie for $3. You can also bring your own.When my girl was filing away my callous, she actually told me me hold my leg/foot up as it's "very tiring for her." And she also cut me as you can see in the picture, I'm still raw and kinda bleeding from it,  it's been 2 hours. Ummm yea...me think not. No thank you.When I was paying, the older lady (they speak mandarin) asked my nail tech if I bought the nail file/buffer baggie, and she asked her in mandarin how come I didn't buy it (probably thought I didn't understand).
