I am not sure why there are such negative reviews, this place is amazing! My mother and I used to go to The Rock in St. Albert but tried Purple Lotus out because of their group on. I have been seeing Kim for my nails and for pedicures for awhile now. I have always had a great experience and remain a loyal customer. My girls and I just had pedi's to celebrate the holiday season. I went in yesterday for a lomi lomi massage that I bought from Groupon with a friend. We both loved the experience :) sometimes with Groupon you can be treated like a second class citizen but not here! The ladies were polite and informative. I'm pregnant and Trisha did a wonderful job in accommodating my belly, she has very strong hands which I love. This was my first time having a lomi lomi massage and it was really relaxing but she still got into my tight spots.The place is so peaceful and relaxing and it smelt wonderful, I never wanted to leave! Came to Purple Lotus this week, using a coupon from Groupon.  I had never been there before and although I was familiar with the Riel Business Park, I did have trouble making out the numbers and finding the location.  However I did find it and was on time.  I was a little taken aback when the person doing the Deep Tissue Massage greeted me with a sullen "first name" with no smile - no welcome.  He proceeded to ask me to fill out a form on a tablet, which I told him I had already completed online - on the day I made the appointment.  I guess he found it, so then he took me to the room, with no acknowledgment that he had found the info, or even a slight apology.  The massage therapist is definitely a good one - he knows his business - he gave me a good massage, however, I had a lot of trouble hearing him every time he spoke to me which I think could have been improved on - his voice is extremely low and mumbling.  All this aside, the thing that bothers me the most about my visit, was that I was never smiled at, and was never thanked for coming in, and he never said anything like "hope to see you again" - nothing.  There was nothing to encourage me to come again. Very unprofessional along with Horrible customer service! Gel polish came off in a week (everywhere else I've been it lasted months). Owner/Manager is very rude to customers & she couldn't care less about them. I will be telling my friends about the horrible customer service. Take your money somewhere it's appreciated! Read Less

Not relaxing. Long wait for appointments.  Up to 3-4 weeks in advance just to book a pedicure. Annoying process of booking where they call you back bc nobody ever answers the phone when you call. Although the esthitician who does pedicures was fantastic.I called to book an appointment. Left a message and didnt get a followup till a few days later. I booked an appointment four weeks later bc there were no times available. One week later I get a voicemail to change my appointment bc the esthetician cant make it bc she has an appointment. Annoyed. I reschedule another appointment. So minus one star for long waits to book then cancelling on me shortly after booking. Inside the owner was putting together furniture. She was putting together a shelf and yapping for the entire time I had my pedicure. It was very distracting and annoying. I looked around to see several signs mentioning no cell phone use to promote a relaxing atmosphere. But all I heard was annoying chatter for my entire hour long visit. It only stopped about 5 minutes before i was finished and her client was paying. So minus a star for the owner obviously not following her own rules of creating a relaxing atmosphere. Through all this chatter the esthitician doing my feet never spoke a word. It was awkwardly silent and she only spoke the bare minimum like you can lift your leg out...it was very impersonable. She didnt even tell me her name. Just hello have a seat...mmm this was odd. Maybe it was just too early. My appointment was at 900 am. But the owner chatting obnoxiously so loudly was probably annoying her too. It created a pretty tense situation.  So minus another star.The esthitician did a great job though. She smoothed out my callouses and painted my nails perfectly in exactly one hour. It was quick and she asked if it was ok to use a blade which I politly refused since it hurts if not used properly. I was pretty disappointed when I asked for gel nails and was refused bc they needed more time to be booked. I guess you need to mention it when booking??? Ive never had to before so this was a disappointment. Minus another star. Book gel nails in advance. It costs $21 to add on a pedicure or $30 just for the gel nails.On my second visit it was way more relaxing with lavender water and a new massage chair that almost put me to sleep.I wont be back. Especially after making this review, the owner appears to justify the noise.  The owner was so loud it completly ruined my first experience. The second experience was good. But Pedicure places pop up everywhere and this place wont last long if they dont offer tvs or a more relaxing environment consistently...too bad. The esthitician does better pedicures than those vietnamese places all over the city. Go elsewhere bc thats my opinion. Read Less

I came to Purple Lotus today for the first time.  Their office is located in the Riel Business Park just off the Henday about 5 minutes.They offer massage, manicures, and pedicures by appointment only.  I enjoyed a 60 minute deep tissue massage by a practicum student who was awesome!  The business owner, Kirsty, greeted me when I came in with a smile.It's a small little office but they offer a wide array of services from prenatal to deep tissue massages (30-90 minutes), manicures, pedicures, waxing, etc.  Appointment is by booking only and they provide services every day of the week minus Sunday.And I saw a sign about direct billing, I think it was for Alberta Blue Cross but call them to double check.They also have a Facebook page and my voicemail to book was returned promptly.(FB page: facebook.com/purplelotus…)Cash or Credit or Visa Debit only (no regular interac cards).Prices were on par with everyone else.I think another visit will definitely be in my near future...
