I have used verve many times for eyebrow waxes I normally see amber and she does a perfect job she does what I ask and knows what I want. Today I went in and saw Carlee I asked for her to clean up the edges and she removed a large chunk of inner eyebrow that I worked very hard to grow out after it was wrongfully removed months ago. I have been to this establishment twice for an eyebrow shape and wax. The first time I had Kim. She took her time on perfecting my brows, and did an absolutely fantastic job. The second time I saw another girl, I can not remember her name. I clearly stated what I needed done (a full brow trim and shaping), and how I usually get it done (some off the inner top, with a high pointy arch, which will be filled in daily). After cleaning them up bit I look and tell her where to take more off, etc. Second brow she barely touches and again askes what I wanted. The girl must not have understood me, as there was no arch on my brows when she was done, and they were still a bushy mess. At this point I just wanted to get home, so I paid the $20, left, and plan to rebook elsewhere. If I do go back, I will ensure to only see Kim. I got my makeup done for engagements photos by Tiffany today and it was a fabulous experience! She was friendly, fun and knowledgeable! I really had no idea what I wanted done and just let her do her thing. She let me know what she was doing and why, also while asking me questions about what I prefer for the overall look. I would strongly recommend her to anyone! 5 stars!I was checked in and checked out by two different front desk ladies. The front desk lady who checked me out was very nice. I usually do not complain on these kinds of things, however the girl who checked me in wasn't the most friendliest I would say...sorry, but I walked in and she literally looked me up and down with her eyes in what I felt was really snobbish. She then checked me in and told me I could take a seat, but didn't offer to take my coat or offer me a drink. Now normally wouldn't care about that and I don't expect someone to be waiting on me, but just with the looking me up in down kind of was a turn off in customer service. Seems this place is having many many major issues with infections. This place is obviously dirty. But don't dare say anything to the manager or owners because they will threaten to sue! From chemical burns, to ripping off skin on a wax job to full blown nasty eye infections, this place NEEDS to step up to the plate and fix their bull$hit customer service and lack of proper sanitization or close up shop. If you are the owner or manager of this shop and are reading my review. GROW UP! Face the music, you are running a chop shop and the ladies of sherwood park will not tolerate such poor service!! My first time at a spa. I was early, so I had to wait, which was fine, but I waited for 20 min before I was offered even a glass of water. My esthetician was very nice and chatty and I really liked her. I got my nose pierced here recently. What a nightmare.As soon as it was pierced it gushed blood. 45 mins to stop it. The piercer was nervous and claimed that bleeding like that had only happened once before. It bled for 2 days after that. She also used a plastic stud which after my research shows is a huge no no. I went back after a few days to get a metal stud put in and she wouldn't do it. She prefers the plastic. Bad bad bad. I left with no refund, no metal stud and a nose covered in polysporin. I had to have another company remove the piercing it was hurting so bad :(I spoke to several piercing companies after this experience and never should plastic studs be used due to high possibility of infection and complications. As well as every one of them advised against piercing in a salon/spa business. Do your homework and avoid this business for piercings!!!!!! Read Less

I had lash extensions done and it was a bad experience all around. A month or two later I had lashes done at another place and realized how bad my experience truly was at Verve so I contacted them just to let them know. The manager or owner that I spoke with became angry with me though my attitude and tone never changed from pleasant and constructive, I wasn't' asking for my money back, I just wanted to let them know about my experience. I give two stars because I had my hair done here once and it was a good experience, the stylist was pleasant and did a good job. Though I won't be visiting the salon anytime soon again. Read Less

I had heard from a friend that when she went to get her eyebrow pierced here, it got infected right away. I went in to get my lip piercing changed and figured it would be fine since it was already pierced. When I got it pierced, it was clean and I had no problems. Just from getting it changed here, it started to get crusty and eventually tore the skin inside of my lip and had left a flap of skin. Disgusting, I know. I had to end up taking it out. Read Less

I went to verge expecting to leave feeling refreshed and w some tension relieved. I left with more pain in my back than what I came with. And the lady doing my fingers and toes left me alone for a totally of 45 minutes and seemed not to care. My 6 year old niece could have done a better job! I visited Verve this week for a facial with Joana (yes one 'n'). In short, it was one of the best I have ever had. Joana was professional, with a gentle and soothing manner. As she worked through my treatment at a leisurely pace, she answered my questions about products and techniques. Her responses were knowledgeable and easily understood. She seemed to know the right time to speak, respond to comments and questions and then remain quiet and let the facial take its full effect. I would NOT recommend this place to ANYONE! I went in for a pedicure, and the girl used a drill thing on my heels, and nearly took my whole foot off ! it was so tender that i could barely walk afterwards, and as for the polish goes, well just about as good as job as the drill! I agree with Jenna M. about the terrible receptionists. They are extremely unfriendly, and looked at me like I was stupid when I tried to strike up conversation. The hairstylist (Kelsey) was super young, and I was a little nervous initially. She did an incredible job however. She was quite knowledgeable and made the experience very comfortable for me. I got light blond highlights and she recommended me to get some low lights to break up my bleach blond look. I will definitely be re-booking with her!Oh and since she is a jr. stylist, it wasn't expensive at all. Paid 140 + tip for a full 2 color dye, cut and style. Read Less

I walked up to the counter upon arrival and the receptionist was on the phone talking to a friend. She did not acknowledge me for about five minutes until other associate walked in and she quickly hung up the phone and then acknowledged me. The stylist that I saw was the most experienced in the salon (or so I was told). She cut my hair into a shoulder length bob. The layers did not blend well, my left side was longer then the right and my hair would never lie flat (I had little fly away pieces everywhere). I had to wear my hair in a pony tail for three months until my hair started to grow out. My highlights were a big blob in the front and hardly any in the back (I asked to have them blended so it would look natural). The scalp massage that I received did feel great though but not so great when I had to pay for it and I never asked for one!!! My bill was over $200 and my hair for lack of a better word sucked!! Even my husband asked "what in the world did you do to your hair?"  When I man comments on how bad your hair is, it is never good. I would defiantly take a pass on this one.
