I had a pedicure yesterday for my birthday and I must say that overall, it was quite terrible. It wasn’t all bad. I will say that I’ve never had anyone spend as much time razoring and scrubbing my feet as they did... the bottoms of my feet are great. The reason for the negative review though is 1. She cut my cuticles so bad that they were stinging through the entire pedicure. Today, I can see little scabs along the cuticle line. 2. It was the most horrendous paint job I’ve ever had... the polish was so thick and globby. It dried bumpy with chunks around the edges of my toes :(. Since it was my birthday and I had dinner plans, I had to take off all of the polish when I got home and repaint them myself. Once again when I took the polish off, my cuticles stung like crazy because they were so cut up. I’m sure we can all agree that leaving a pedicure with a beautiful paint job is one of our favorite things and this was not the case for me which sucks because I loooved the color I chose. The lady doing my toes did try to fix one of them a couple of times by taking the polish off and repainting it again, but both times she cut corners and didn’t even do a base coat. The more she tried, the worse it got and it was clear that she just gave up in the end.
Anyway, I just wanted to share my 2 cents in hopes that the salon will try to improve this for clients moving forward. No one wants to be cut up and have to repaint them toes after paying for the service.

Nails look pretty but cuticles are completely destroyed ... I’ve never had someone yank so much skin off before so I wasn’t worried until the days after when my skin started to bleed and peel .

I come to Calgary every second weekend to visit my parents which just beside phamtastic nails varsity location.
So I start to try this place .This salon is always so clean which for me is a big deal!Everyone is so friendly .They offer variety brands colors including organic products.
I got couple girls working on me. I found they are all really focus on nail shape,cleaning the cuticles and the polish painting.
My nails never lasted such long. I just came back from a one month vacation, my nails still look fresh.
Here are some pictures of my nails I recently get from here. I’ll definitely come again soon and take advantage of your great service!

My eyebrows are now two distinctly different shapes! This afternoon was my first time going to the Varsity Phamtastic nails location. I have always had positive experiences at the 855 8 Ave SW #101 location. The lady threading my eyebrows made each look nice in its own way...but very different from each other. This new world of lopsidedness is a scary place. I am hoping the left eyebrow grows back.
Also this location charged 3 dollars more, unless a tip was sneakily added on...

They got me in after the gym for a last-minute appointment with my feet in really rough shape after training. They took the time made me feel comfortable and just an overall fun environment. Definitely a great experience feels amazing and just the personalities that you get there are so sweet and caring. They took the time to talk joke around and find out about you and when to help make you feel great. Thank you guys definitely my go-to place for my next pedicure. Parminder you are awesome! See you in three weeks!

I walked in and they said they had time for a pedicure. The technician kept leaving to help other people (10 mins for an eyebrow wax et and it took awhile to complete my toes. When it came time to paint them she said she was going to help someone else (who walked in) and another lady would do the polish. She did not know what she was doing. The nails were streaked and only partial coloured on each nail. In less than a week most of my toe nails had polish that had peeled right off (not chipped, actually came off in one big chunk). For $52.50 I would not go back. Save your money and go somewhere else.

Went in for Pedicure and Manicure. The Owners daughter is quite rude, unfriendly and has a scowl on the whole time while she is glaring at you. It makes its hard to unwind and relax.They forgot to give me a manicure, then made it seem like I was keeping them late. My pedicure was ruined while they rushed to put my sandals on, I was so uncomfortable I didn't want to stay and get it fixed. They charge more than most places but don't value your business. Won't be returning.

My experience was absolutely horrible. I hadn't had my nails done in a while (no polish, no acrylic or gel, I came in with clean untouched nails) and I wanted to get gel done. I had an appointment, but they were still 15 minutes late to get me in, and I was shuffled between four different people to have my nails done. The first talked on her phone in a different language through the entire process and I had to ask her four times to shorten my nails until she actually heard me. I had to press the button on the curing machine myself because she was paying so little attention that she forgot (four times). Two and a half hours and three other people later, and my nails probably would look better if I hadn't gone in at all -- the surface is still rough and not smooth, the tips are uneven, and I would've been better off at home. Oh and they were by far the most expensive place I've seen! Save your money and go elsewhere.

I can only comment on their waxing services which have all been excellent in my experience. Mahsa is the best, request her specifically if you can. She uses a combination of hard wax and strip wax to ...
I can only comment on their waxing services which have all been excellent in my experience. Mahsa is the best, request her specifically if you can. She uses a combination of hard wax and strip wax to get even the most stubborn of hairs. Somehow my waxes are all less painful if she's my technician. This is my go to spot.

Had a terrible experience here. Went in for a Acrylic fill. They drilled off the old acrylic burning me over once a nail - thats 10+ times! She told me that it was OK when I told her she was burning...
Had a terrible experience here. Went in for a Acrylic fill. They drilled off the old acrylic burning me over once a nail - thats 10+ times! She told me that it was OK when I told her she was burning me and that she had to - BULL! THEN told me that they didn't do Acrylic fills and that they would just do gel. I said I wanted acrylic and they insisted they dont do it despite having it listed on the website and the signs. They then told me to wait and someone came out. They brought the Acrylic products with them and commented on how stinky they were which is a trait of MMA (*Methyl Methacrylate - an FDA banned product - ILLEGAL AND HIGHLY POISONOUS see beautyweb.com/consumer_a… for more info) I asked if they were using MMA and they openly admitted YES they were!!! As I was asking this question the tech slopped acrylic all over my nail, or finger rather... it literally covered the entire tip of my hand, skin included. Needless to say, thats the point where you have to say - forget it. And I did. (Thank goodness!!!) And told them to simply take them off... So they grinded and drilled the old acrylic off to the nail bed, severely damaging the nail bed in the process, despite me telling them to stop and I would just do it. THEN they charged me for it... RIDICULOUS!!!!!This place should be SHUT DOWN for what they are doing!!! Choose ANY other nail salon - just not here!!!!

Went for the first time today as I had some giftcards. I got a spa pedicure with shellac and a Brazilian. I was nervous as it isn't my usual place to go but I will be going again! The lady doing my wax wasn't comfortable at first because I am very pregnant so she asked another lady to do it. Which i was impressed that she was able to step back and ask someone else so I got the best customer service possible. Lin did an awesome job with the wax. she was very professional and fast. It actually hurt way less than the usual place I go. I was impressed. Bianca did my pedicure and did a awesome job. She took the time to do it properly and neatly. Thanks so much!

I'd never treated myself to gel nails before I went to Phamtastic to get my wedding nails put on. I got pink and whites with some white floral decorations put on. For the wedding they were just bea...
I'd never treated myself to gel nails before I went to Phamtastic to get my wedding nails put on. I got pink and whites with some white floral decorations put on. For the wedding they were just beautiful - nicer than any set I've ever noticed for shape ect. They started to look bad quickly when they grew out though so I'm wondering if they made them look extra nice for the wedding and purposefully made the sacrifice. I was back for a fill I badly needed in two weeks (I thought I would get more time) and the fill looked not as nice but they were much flatter with less gel so they have been growing out much more attractively. I'm now two weeks after a fill and I'm not even considering another fill yet so maybe I'm currently wearing an average set of gels. They certainly take less care and attention to my nails during the fill and I had to get them to go back and adjust the shape and sharpness they were just going to gloss over. Overall I'm wanting to keep my nails for a while and I'll continue with phamtastic as I'm still pretty much happy.

I used to frequent the Phamtastic Nails in the Southwest as it was very close to my place of work. After moving to the NW I discovered this location. I am very happy with their service. The staff are friendly and accommodating and they do an excellent job on eyebrow threading. Good job on nails as well. My only complaint is that they could use a little more choices and variety when it comes to gel and shellack polishes. Overall, I would definitely recommend this salon.

I had a pedicure yesterday for my birthday and I must say that overall, it was quite terrible. It wasn’t all bad. I will say that I’ve never had anyone spend as much time razoring and scrubbing my feet as they did... the bottoms of my feet are great. The reason for the negative review though is 1. I walked in and they said they had time for a pedicure. The technician kept leaving to help other people (10 mins for an eyebrow wax et and it took awhile to complete my toes. When it came time to paint them she said she was going to help someone else (who walked in) and another lady would do the polish. She did not know what she was doing. The nails were streaked and only partial coloured on each nail. In less than a week most of my toe nails had polish that had peeled right off (not chipped, actually came off in one big chunk). The staff are friendly and accommodating and they do an excellent job on eyebrow threading. Good job on nails as well. My only complaint is that they could use a little more choices and variety when it comes to gel and shellack polishes. Overall, I would definitely recommend this salon.
