I came here to Angela's today for a spiral perm. And it has turned out to be a great spiral perm. I told her I wanted wild, and tumbled, and it is exactly what I had envisioned in my head. I have been looking all around Melbourne and the surrounding suburbs for a reputable salon, with good recommendations, for what is, to me, a very risky procedure. I have seen some appalling perms over the years and it seems now that virtually no salons will do them, and new hairdressers are not actually trained in the procedures. But Angela's was mentioned to me by a number of high end salons as one that did very good work. But Angela is not just skilled, she is highly knowledgable, and actually listens very closely to what you say and will clearly tell you what is possible and what is not. And she is deeply knowledgeable about hair and scalp health and problems, and also product ingredients and side effects. Her attitude is one of great common sense, with quite a fair degree of flair. (And absolutely fabulous shocking pink platform shoes. And an orange and pink Pucci print wrap dress.) Her phone rang consistently, as did the doorbell, while I was there (about 4.5 hours) indicating a very good/popular level of business; and everyone that came in was greeted with warmth, friendliness and recognition. And as a very unexpected bonus .. the salon refreshments are seriously excellent. From what I heard, observed and experienced, I would have no hesitation in recommending Angela's Mane Attraction to anyone who wants their hair treated in some way. (Be it a perm, or a colour, or straightening or whatever we choose to do to our hair in our pursuit of novelty or vanity.) Both male and female clients seems equally as pleased as I was/am. What a relaxing experience it is going to this salon. I had a wash and blow dry and it lasted 4 days! Angela goes out of her way to provide advice to care for hair and skin and has a great range of products to suit everyone. My daughters have had their hair cut by Angela since they were in primary school and she is fantastic with kids and teenagers. Angela's great fun to talk to, and always offers a coffee or glass of wine with your appointment. Utterly serious about hair, and goes out her way to arrive at exactly the cut you want. Plus, a couple of utterly awesome old cats that spend their days languidly dozing around the salon and love to receive some freindly rubs. If you have some issue with cats, this isn't your place. Must love cats, and friendly staff! I actually looked good walking out after getting my haircut, that was a first. No more waiting 2 weeks for my hair to "grow in". Not only did I love the cut but most important my girlfriend did too! I could have found a cheaper cut in Melbourne, but you get what you pay for. Absolutely terrible. Overcharged with poor service. Products available in the store are much more expensive then everywhere else. Got treatments done in my hair which I didn't even ask for and was charged for them at the end! Cats everywhere which was disgusting. They were on the salon seats as well as on the hairbrushes which Angela uses on customers- including me! I am normally a woman who never complains but this was terrible. I don't understand how this place has good reviews because it's the worst place I've ever been to. My suspicion is that the owner is writing good reviews in the hope to get more business.
