Worst experience ever. Overpriced, un-hygienic and painful mani / pedi.
We came in as a walk-in appointment last minute, as I am getting married this weekend and chipped my gel manicure so I needed to get them re-done. We were in the area and this place had the best reviews. I asked for a gel manicure and my cousin got a pedicure (no polish) and a regular manicure. My cuticles were extra sensitive and so I asked my attendant to be gentle, but she was rough while filing and buffing my nails. Additionally, after she removed my previous gel polish, I realized that none of the tools were in sterile packs...which is something I should have realized upon arriving. As she continued to remove the polish, I looked around further and couldn't see anything that would suggest this place was hygienic. One nail required additional polish remover and as she waited for it to soak, used the tool on her own nail. I should have said something, but I was already committed and this was the only free time I had left before the wedding. She removed the polish and then continued to paint my nails. The color is nice, but it was the most basic manicure I've ever had. No massage or cleaning. Just polish removal & polish application. When she finished, I should have said something, but was so over it, that I just wanted to get out of there. When I went to pay, they wanted to charge me $45 for my cousin's pedicure (just clean up, no polish), which is a complete ripoff. I said that was much more expensive than I am used to, but they tried to write me off by saying they don't normally do a pedi w/o nail polish so they weren't sure what to charge. I told them that a normal pedicure is normally $35, which is what I paid at a nail salon earlier this week on Johnston Street. The owner remarked, 'Oh, so you get your nails done a lot?" This remark tells me they were trying to rip us off. I get my nails done monthly and I've never been overcharged like this before. It was ridiculous. She finally lowered the price for the pedicure to $30 and then I paid $25 for my basic, gel polish application (I won't call this a manicure) and a regular manicure. Never going back here and shocked to find out that others rate this place 5 stars. Read Less
