On the 13th of February I was booked in to have my hair coloured by Emma, who had done my hair before and did an amazing job. However when I walked in at 10am, they told me that I was not properly booked in and had to come back 2 hours later. Amanda( salon owner) was the one to do my hair, All I wanted was to go a few shades lighter and I ended up walking out with blue/grey/purple hair. She was more concerned about other things in the salon than me. When she finished I stated... that "my hair looks blue" and she just brushed it off and said it will fade. I then was so upset that I wanted to get out of there as soon as possible and just paid the money without processing what just happened to my hair. After spending $260 I then went straight to Royals Hairdressing and thankfully they saved my hair which was bleached right through and the toner was left in too long. I got my year 12 formal hair done at this establishment in late November. The service was awful. I brought photos as reference for what I wanted and the lady who did my hair did not tell me that she couldn't do what I wanted until the hairstyle was finished. I couldn't see what she was doing so I had no way to know that I wasn't getting what I asked for. I sat in that chair for two hours. When I wasn't happy with the hairstyle I was given, the manager explained quite rudely that no one could do what I wanted unless they cut my hair. Once I declined that, the manager stood by the front desk and began to trash talk about me with her employees where I could clearly see and hear her talking about me. I was very unimpressed with the service and will never ever darken the door of this "business" ever again. Read Less

My hair was ruined by this salon they melted my hair with a full head of foils I lost at lest 50% of my hair. I had to have weekly treatments for months and had to go back to being dark my hair is still so badly damaged I will not be able to lighten my hair for years to come. The staff did try their best to accommodate me after the mishap reception was wonderful but unfortunately the owner was rude unfriendly and made me feel uncomfortable and I feel didn’t do enough considering the stress this has inflicted on my self confidence and not being to do anything with my hair but wear in a low ponytail and a hat most of the time. If the owner was friendly apologied not give me dirty looks then I’d probably just tell my friends not to go there not write a review but she was unbearable and months later still trying to save my hair at my own expense... I have always had waist length hair and wanted a big change for myself. I did my research and I am so happy that I found Insignia. I am in love with my new short hair. Unfriendly staff. Made an appointnent. When we got there were told that the appointment had to be cut short as she didnt have enough time so tried to sell us something we didnt want at such an unreasonable price!!. After 20+years with same hairdresser, I stepped out and found Mitchell! He was not only a great hairdresser but so lovely aswell. He took control and made my hair the way I asked. All the staff were fantastic. Helped me organise a spa package as a present and fit me in the next day. We felt super relaxed and pampered. The massage, facial and pedicure were just amazing. This place is just incredible and you all need to start getting all your beauty and hair treatments done here asap. I had been searching for a good, local beauty salon and hairdresser after I had one of the worst experiences ever at another (look at previous review). I searched google and Insignia Hair & Day Spa had a few 4-5 star google reviews. I booked a massage and facial for my sister and I and we both went in not knowing what to expect. It is a little obscure to find (on the top level of a small business lot in the back of Penrith) but once you're up those stairs, it is incredibly deceptive! Behind the counter are countless awards and trophies - all well deserved and earned I believe now. The receptionist is lovely and always smiling. The salon is broken up into two areas; on the left a beautiful well-lit open space hair salon, to the right, a relaxing and dimly lit series of hallways and a serene waiting area for the massage and treatment areas. My massage was incredibly relaxing and my therapist was lovely, my face felt like a million bucks after the facial. My sister had the same thoughts. A few days later I booked in for my brows and a haircut (I love how you can get everything done here!). I have never had such a great haircut and brow job. I was incredibly relaxed and accommodated the whole time. The scalp massage I received while getting my hair washed was the best scalp massage I've ever gotten, ever. And the chairs that you relax in are the most plush, comfortable chairs I've ever experienced at a sink. My hairdresser Jessica was truly awesome and understood my needs completely. Her professionalism and passion for the job made me feel at ease and confident in her abilities - she truly loves her job and loves working for the salon!I will definitely be back for ALL my hair and beauty needs and I will be telling everyone about this place.  It really is a gem in the middle of a sea of mediocre and dodgy places in Penrith.
