Over the past few years I have semi-regularly visited this salon for eyelash tint and eyebrow wax as well as pedicure and manicure and have on most occasions come away happy. My latest experience there has changed my perception entirely. The past 3 times I have had my eyebrows waxed the beautician has tried to upsell me on an eyebrow tint. I have naturally red hair and pale skin so my natural eyebrow colour is relatively light. Yesterday afternoon, I decided instead of saying no, I’d try something new. If they keep suggesting it again and again, maybe it would suit me - they’re the experts right? I told them I’d give it a go, but insisted only a few shades darker than my natural colour. When I opened my eyes after the treatment my eyebrows were like two thin black slugs on my face. I am mortified. I don’t recognize myself in the mirror, and when I told them how upset I was with the result all they offered was for me not to pay for it (but still charged me for they eyelash tint and wax) They rushed me out of the room to fit another appointment in without any real offer to fix the absolute mess they made and now I have to face the next 4-6 weeks with an unnatural looking kardashian face that’s at complete odds with who I am. I’m sure in time I will be able to laugh at this, and maybe there’s a lesson here about loving who you are, as you are. But for now, buyer beware - do NOT let the staff here convince you an eyebrow tint is a good idea. Read Less

I’ve been to this salon twice now and while my first experience was very good, this last time was really dissappinting. I left feeling annoyed at the salon and myself for not complaining in person. They gave me an uneven, frankly quite ugly nail job. I asked for ‘short but natural looking oval shape’ nails, and ended up with tiny nails that have a weird point- they are unevenly shaped, they dont look natural and they dont do anything for the shape of my fingers. My right thumb nail is rounded almost nonexistent and there is a tiny cut from where I was nicked from a machine and is now bleeding slightly. When I walked in I grabbed a brochure it said $45 for a full set of SNS, and when i went to pay the lady said it was actually $60, because it had gone up to $55 and an extra $5 for ‘almond shape’. I was quite annoyed that this was not conveyed before when I had asked for this service as I probably would have changed my mind. If the pricing is different from what is printed that needs to be explained and so do any additional costs. Also, ive never heard of a place costing extra for specific shapes, but even then, if I am to pay extra I expect it to be done well. They seem to have lots of recurring customers so I hope this was a one-off experience but it has tainted the place for me and I shall not be returning. Read Less

I have been going here for years, even though I've moved out of the area I still travel back across town for their reliably great value and very friendly staff. I can highly recommend - they are caring, gentle and well skilled. Worst experience ever! The nail tech started coloring my nails without ever asking me if I need to have my cuticle cut. When I asked to have it cut she was annoyed and rudely said that's $10. I said fine but then she started taking her anger out on my cuticles so I said that she was a bit too rough and hurting me. Half way through I asked her if I can have my nails reshaped and she said that's an additional $5! What?? She ended with applying oil to my finished nails and told me I'm done. Mind you my fingers are dripping with oil. I asked her to please wipe off the oil as it was all over my fingers I didn't want to get it all over my purse/clothes. She pointed to the sink apathetically and said I can go wash it myself. If you like being treated like a butchered animal you may like it here, if not then I suggest you find somewhere else. came here for a pedicure and brazilian wax:the pedicure was ok, nothing superb. I didn't really get a foot scrub nor foot massage but the brazilian wax is worth the price and the wax used didn't cause irritation. Read Less

Posting from my boyfriend's account. I was recommended to Fancy Nails by a friend who raved about the great service, skill and "cheap pricing". Since I sometimes stay closer to here than my normal nail tech I thought I'd give it a try. I booked an appointment and called up to say I was going to be late due to rainy weather, which the lady said was fine and they could do it whenever I arrived, in the end I was only 5 minutes late but was made to wait 40 minutes anyway. When I eventually got attended to the lady was less than interested in doing a good job, ignored me when i asked for gel powder and for my nails to be a bit shorter, she was really rough with the drill and my nails were all different shapes and uneven. When I politely asked her to fix certain things up a bit she may as well have rolled her eyes in my face with her big sigh "is that fine" annoyed response. She then buffed my nails really smooth before applying the gel polish which obviously prevents the polish sticking properly. When i got home I noticed how bad the polish job was and by the next morning without even really using my hands.. hadn't been to work or anything my thumb had almost entirely peeled, revealing that there was also a chunk missing where she should've infilled. The worst part about this place is the extortionate price. It usually costs me $35 for gel infills and gel polish (which I understand is quite reasonable and cheap)... while I got two repairs which was an extra $10 and i understand some places charge extra for that.. the whole service cost $70!! originally the lady tried to charge me $75 and when I questioned it she re added it and shrugged and said "oh 70 then". Personally I am sick of this lack of interested attitude constantly received from nail techs. I should've asked for a quote before the service but i usually expect that there might be a 10-15 $ difference between places but this is a JOKE, even Centerpoint, mid-city, where the rent would be huge costs less. They also charge extra for "shiny polish" and removal of shellac which is a necessary part of doing the new job and should be and usually would be inclusive. I went back and got them repaired and chose to opt for normal polish as the shellac was just THAT bad and already that too has bubbled in a matter of hours. While I was able to insist I be refunded on the shellac- I was initially told "well we did the work so maybe only a half refund". I will say that the other workers seemed friendlier than the original but honestly - I am a florist and if something is sent out that is crap, not up to expected standards or damaged in transit and the customer complains we don;t turn around and say "well we made this arrangement and delivered it so maybe partial discount" we wear the cost and loss and take it on board to learn from. I have never had this bad of an experience in the 3 years I've been getting my nails done and I've been to at least 15 different places. Fancy Nails - if you are going to charge a premium price you must provide a premium CONSISTENT service and end product. Terrible shellac.. Didn't get polish on the top corners/edges and painted too far up from the cuticles, which means they will need to be redone in a week, if they even last that long! Unclean, yet a staff member was on her phone the whole time. Never again. Read Less
