Sam did a great job fixing my nails since another place messed them up...The employees are very friendly and the place is clean inside...I also had a green tea pedicure and it was amazing and how they lined the tub with a bath liner, very professional...My feet look great and my feet and legs are smooth from the oils...I loved my whole visit...I will definitely be going back for my next fill in and pedicure...Thanks again Sam for a great job on my nails...I'm getting so many compliments on how great they look compared to how they looked... I had a bad experience at this salon. I went in to get acrylic infills and walked out being charged $60. 2 of the nails they infilled fell off within 2 days and they all started to bubble. Instead of shaving off the lifting acrylic they re glued it back down which is quite dangerous. I wouldn't recommend this place. Read Less

My experience has been terrible. Be warned if you wish to have the eyelash extensions. i have stupidly done this twice at aloh, both times i have had to visit my GP the next day due to glue, fibres and other bad stuff remaining in my eyes and causing a degree of pain and damage. after the GP is finished cleaning, flushing and fixing the mess, there are no eyelashes left and the extension experience has wound up costing triple! their lighting is dull and dark in the room and they don't use magnifying glasses. Obviously they are a danger to our eyes girls. Don't go there. Had a pedicure as well and got tinea.....should i go on? Read Less

Aloh gets two pretty painted thumbs up from me.  Not sure where you all are getting your nails done, but ALOH is the best and cleanest salon I've been to in Lower North Shore.  If there is truly somewhere cleaner and better, please let me know.  Helen's review below is a good account of what to expect from the ambiance.  Some additions: - They take hygiene seriously - as they should! - The salon is super clean - as it should be! - They show chick flicks on the tv - kinda cute and kitschy.   I like it, because who can you truly flip through a gossip mag with wet nails? - They use OPI and Shellac products - bravo, but please add Essie and more colors to the options.You can't put a price on hygiene, cleanliness and a good mani/pedi.  Last thing I need is someone else's foot fungus.  Yuck! It seems that there are new nail salons opening every week. With so many to choose from and with prices so competitive, how do you know you are getting good value for money? Today I went to Aloh for a manicure. They did a few simple things that were different and made me feel special. The first was they gave a discount for cash - how refreshing! Secondly, they offered me a cup of tea. Then they asked if I live locally and when I said I do, they asked if I would like to become a member. For a nominal $3 charge, this entitles me to a set of emery boards reserved for my use only. I thought this was a very clever marketing ploy. Finally, they had a flat screen tv on the wall that I was facing, on which they set up Mamma Mia, the movie, for me to watch while I was having my manicure. Never in a month of Sundays did I think I would give a pedicure place a 4 star rating. Well today must be Sunday and so must tomorrow because I'm about to do it.Aloh opened a couple of months ago and caught my eye immediately, it's been beautifully kitted out and it's plain to see from the French chic décor, that it's a world away from an average nail bar.  I went in for a $40 Pedicure and took my place on a raised soft bench that flows the length of one wall. Toes were dipped into a gorgeous little ceramic bath and an elixir of French natural beauty products (similar to L'Occitane) were used to scrub and primp my feet and legs. The lady who worked on me (Stella) gave me the most amazing foot and leg massage before getting down to the business of tidying and painting my nails. A very good job she did too. The Pedicure is completed with the application of some lovely oil to the feet and it was just blissful.What stood this place apart from others was how wonderfully relaxing it is. The tasteful surroundings, the beautiful products and little talk, just a gentle flowing hum that allows you to totally chill out. I've never felt more relaxed after a Pedicure!  For a change it really was a 'treat'.My only slight niggle was that they were playing SATC2. Whilst in theory it was nice to catch a movie - the utter dross that is SATC 2 - the completely facile, offensive, insincere dross that is SATC2 - was hideous. Somewhat ironic as SATC probably contributed to the proliferation of nail bars in the first place. Take that off the playlist and this place is Heaven!The have a very sweet 'Princess' chair, presumably for children and also do all things eyelash too.Appointment preferred though I did a weekday walk-in. It was kind of hard to believe we needed yet another nail salon when Aloh opened in early 2011. I think I could get each nail done in a different place without even getting in the car! It seems to be making the grade though - usually one or two chairs occupied throughout the day and a steady service in nice clean surrounds.Adding the eyelash service is a point of difference - lots of salons seem to add waxing as an adjunct, but lash tinting and extensions is a bit unusual. If it can stick out the tough time whilst the Cache centre at the top of Military Road village is rejuvenated it should do well. Read Less
